Practical Activity

Activity Title: Historical Memory Game

Project Objective

The objective is for students, in groups of 3 to 5, to research different games and playtime activities from various historical periods, create their own versions of the chosen games, and, in the end, present to the class what they have learned.

Detailed Project Description

Each group should choose three games or playtime activities from different historical periods to research. They must discover the origin, rules, and cultural importance of each chosen game or playtime activity. With the collected information, the students should create a 'Historical Memory Game,' where each pair of cards represents a different game or playtime activity.

The activity will be divided into three stages: research, game creation, and presentation. In the research stage, students should search for reliable information about the chosen games and playtime activities. In the game creation stage, they should design the memory game cards representing the researched games and playtime activities. And finally, in the presentation stage, each group should explain to the class what they have learned and how to play the 'Historical Memory Game' they created.

Required Materials

  • Internet access or books for research.
  • Cardboard or cardstock paper to make the game cards.
  • Colored pencils, markers, and/or crayons to color the cards.
  • Blunt scissors.
  • Glue.
  • Dictionary (optional).

Detailed Step-by-Step Guide for Activity Execution

  1. Form the groups: Students should be divided into groups of 3 to 5.

  2. Choose games and playtime activities: Each group should choose three games or playtime activities from different historical periods to research.

  3. Research: With the help of the teacher, students should conduct research on the chosen games and playtime activities. They should discover the origin, rules, and cultural importance of each one.

  4. Memory game planning: After the research, students should discuss and plan how they will create the 'Historical Memory Game.' They should decide which chosen games and playtime activities will be represented and how.

  5. Game creation: With the plan ready, students should create the memory game cards. Each pair of cards should represent a different game or playtime activity. On one card, they should draw or paste an image representing the game or playtime activity. On the other card, they should write the name of the game or playtime activity, the historical period to which it belongs, and a brief explanation about it.

  6. Presentation: Finally, each group should present to the class what they have learned. They should explain about the researched games and playtime activities and teach how to play the 'Historical Memory Game' they created.

  7. Work submission: The memory games and research conducted should be submitted to the teacher at the end of the activity.

Remember, kids, the activity is an opportunity to learn in a fun way. So, enjoy, be creative, and above all, have fun!

Delivery Format

The memory games and research conducted should be submitted to the teacher at the end of the activity. Additionally, each group should present to the class the 'Historical Memory Game' they created and explain about the researched games and playtime activities.
