We're talking about things like our beliefs, values, traditions, ways of dressing, among others.

When we talk about 'perception of differences in social environments', we are referring to how we perceive and interpret these differences. Our perception is shaped by a series of factors, including our education, life experiences, values, and beliefs. And it is through this perception that we build our understanding of the world and the people around us.

Practical Activity: 'Our Communities, Our Stories'

Project Objective

The objective of this project is to encourage students to explore and understand the different perceptions of social environments, using their own communities as a study base. Students will identify and map the various characteristics of their communities, as well as deepen their understanding of the differences and similarities between them.

Project Description

Students, divided into groups of 3 to 5, will work together to create a 'Map of Our Communities'. This map will be a visual representation of the different social environments that exist in their communities. Each group will be responsible for identifying and describing the different elements that make up their communities, such as: schools, churches, squares, parks, markets, hospitals, etc. They will also interview people from the community to understand how these elements contribute to the social life of the community.

Necessary Materials

1. Large sheets of paper or cardboards
2. Colored pencils, markers, crayons
3. Ruler
4. Camera (optional)
5. Audio recorder (optional)

Step by Step

1. Group Formation: The teacher will divide the class into groups of 3 to 5 students. Each group will receive a large sheet of paper or cardboard.

2. Identification of Community Elements: The students, with the guidance of the teacher, will identify the different elements of their communities, such as schools, squares, churches, etc. They will write down these elements on the paper, forming the map outline.

3. Description of Elements: For each identified element, the students will describe its characteristics. For example, for the school, they can describe the size of the building, the number of classrooms, the playground, etc.

4. Interviews: The students will interview people from the community to understand how these elements contribute to the social life of the community. They can ask, for example: 'What does the school mean to you?'; 'How is the square used by the community?'; 'What is the importance of the church in the community?'.

5. Recording Information: The students will record the collected information on the paper, next to the respective elements. They can also use drawings, collages, or photos (if possible) to illustrate their descriptions.

6. Presentation: After completing the map, each group will present their work to the class. During the presentation, they will explain the different parts of the map and share the information they gathered during the interviews.

Remember that collaboration and communication among group members are essential for the successful completion of the project. Additionally, creativity in representing the elements of the community and reflection on the differences and similarities between them are important aspects to consider.
