The Narrative

The narrative is a form of expression that we use to tell stories. It is made up of a series of events that unfold and, together, form a story. Every book, short story, movie, song, or even a joke are examples of narratives. Did you know that even that joke you tell your friends at recess can be a narrative?

Narratives are essential to our society. Through them, we learn about the world, about people, and about ourselves. It is the stories that connect us and help us understand the world in a deeper way.

The Literary Reader

And who is the literary reader? Well, it's you! The literary reader is the person who reads stories and interprets them. They are one of the most important elements in the construction of a narrative. This is because when we read, we not only decode the words, but we also give them meaning.

The literary reader is like a detective who investigates clues to unravel the mystery of a story. They ask questions, reflect, make connections, and bring the story to life. And the most incredible thing is that each reader can interpret a story in a unique and special way.

Practical Activity: "The Reader Detective's Journey"

Project Objective:

In this activity, students will work together to create their own narrative and, at the same time, will exercise the role of the literary reader, exploring how stories are structured and how they can be interpreted in different ways by different readers.

Project Description:

Students, divided into groups of 3 to 5, will create a comic strip story, which will be shared with their classmates. Each group will receive a short story, which will be the basis for their comic strip story. The short story will be read aloud by the teacher, and students will have the opportunity to ask questions and reflect on the story before starting their work.

Necessary Materials:

• A4 paper sheets
• Pencils, erasers, and colored markers
• Children's Storybooks (for inspiration)
• Computer and Printer (optional)

Step by Step:

1. Formation of Groups: Divide the class into groups of 3 to 5 students.

2. Reading of the Short Story: Read the short story aloud to the class. After the reading, encourage students to ask questions and share their reflections on the story.

3. Planning the Comic Strip Story: Each group must decide how they will tell the story in comic strip format. They can choose the most important scenes, think about the dialogues, and decide how they will draw each scene.

4. Creation of the Comic Strip Stories: Students will start drawing and writing their comic strip story. Remind them that they should work together and that all group members should participate.

5. Review and Finalization: After completing the comic strip stories, students should review the work, correcting writing and drawing errors.

6. Presentation of the Works: Each group will present their comic strip story to the class. During the presentation, students should explain the choices they made in creating the story and how they interpreted the original story.

7. Exhibition of the Comic Strip Stories: The comic strip stories will be displayed on a bulletin board in the classroom. Students will have the opportunity to read the stories created by other groups and make comments on them.
