Dear students, have you ever watched a play? Or perhaps, have you ever participated in a stage performance at your school? Theater is a fascinating art that has existed for many centuries, and it is an incredible way to tell stories and express emotions! In this project, we will learn more about theater and how it works.

Theater was born in Ancient Greece, around 700 B.C., as an essential part of the rituals in honor of the god Dionysus, the god of wine, joy, and, of course, theater! Since then, theater has evolved and transformed in many different ways, from Shakespeare's grand stages in England to the modern productions we see today.

Introduction

Theater is an art form in which a story is told through dialogues and actions of the actors on a stage. The power of theater lies in its ability to make us laugh, cry, think, and question the world around us. This happens through the plot of the story, the characters and how they relate to each other, and the set design and costumes, which help bring the story to life.

There are several elements that make up a theatrical play, such as the characters, the plot (the story), the setting (where the story takes place), the costumes (the clothes the characters wear), the lighting, and the sound effects. All these elements work together to bring the story to life on stage.

In the real world, theater is much more than just entertainment. It has the power to address important issues and provoke social changes. Through a play, we can put ourselves in other people's shoes and better understand their experiences and points of view. This helps us develop empathy and acceptance, skills that are very important for our coexistence.

In this project, we will explore theater and its fundamental parts. You will have the opportunity to develop your teamwork, communication, and creativity skills. Let's embark on this journey through the fascinating world of theater together!

Practical Activity

Activity Title: "Our Theatrical Play"

Project Objective

• Learn about the fundamental elements of a theatrical play: characters, plot, setting, and costumes;
• Practice collaboration, creativity, communication, and time management;
• Put into practice what was learned by creating our own theatrical play!

Detailed Project Description

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 people. Each group will have to create their own theatrical play, write a script, create characters, decide on the setting, choose or create costumes, rehearse, and finally, present the play to the class!

We encourage the play's story to be creative! It can be a funny story, an exciting adventure, a fairy tale, or even a presentation on an important theme such as respect for others or environmental preservation.

Required Materials

• Paper and pens for script creation;
• Various clothes and objects for costumes and set (you can use creativity and recycle materials!);
• A location to rehearse and present the play (it can be the classroom, an outdoor space, or another available location).

Detailed Activity Steps

1. Group Formation: Students will be divided into small groups of 3 to 5 people.

2. Theme Selection and Script Creation: Each group must choose a theme for their play and create a script. In the script, they should define the characters, the story to be told, and the settings where the story will take place.

3. Costume Selection or Creation: With the script defined, students will choose or create the costumes for the play's characters. Each student can be a character, and there can also be characters that are objects or animals, for example.

4. Set Design: The set is where the play's story will take place. It can be a real place, like a house, a school, or a park, or an imaginary place, like an enchanted castle, a spaceship, or a magical forest!

5. Play Rehearsal: With the script, costumes, and set ready, the groups will rehearse their play! Rehearsing is practicing the play several times until the students know what they will do and say at the time of the presentation.

6. Play Presentation: Finally, each group will present their play to the class! Everyone will have the opportunity to watch the presentations of the other groups and learn from their classmates.

At the end, students will have the opportunity to discuss the play's creation process, what they learned from the activity, the difficulties they faced, and how they overcame them together, as a team.

Remember: the most important thing is to have fun, learn, and respect all classmates throughout the activity!

Delivery Format

Each group will present their theatrical play to the class within the stipulated deadline. In addition, each group will deliver the produced script. The evaluation will be based on both active participation throughout the process and the completion of the play and script delivery.
