Project Objective

The objective of this project is to provide students with a practical experience in using dictionaries, helping them understand the meaning of words and use them correctly in different contexts. Additionally, the project aims to promote teamwork, communication, creativity, and critical thinking.

Project Description

In this project, students will form groups of 3 to 5 people and choose 10 words from their textbook or a story they have recently read. Then, they will research the meaning of these words in a dictionary and create a small illustrated dictionary, showing how the words are used in different contexts. Finally, each group will present their 'Dictionary: Words in Context' to the class.

Materials Needed

• Textbooks or stories to choose the words
• Portuguese dictionaries
• Paper, pencils, pens, colors
• Cardboard or large paper to create the illustrated dictionary
• Old magazines, newspapers, scissors, glue (for cutting and pasting images, if necessary)

Step by Step

1. Form the Groups: Form groups of 3 to 5 people.

2. Choose the Words: Each group should choose 10 words from the textbook or a story they have recently read.

3. Research in the Dictionary: Using the dictionary, research the meaning of each chosen word. Write down the meaning and the grammatical class of each word (noun, verb, adjective, adverb, etc).
