In this project, we will study about writing and speech, seeking to understand the concepts of phoneme and letter. In Portuguese, as well as in all other languages, it is essential to understand how we use speech and writing to communicate. In our daily lives, we constantly transition between these two forms of language, and often, we do not even notice the nuances and singularities present in this transition.

Words are composed of letters, which are the graphic symbols we use when writing. Phonemes, on the other hand, represent the sounds of speech, that is, the sound representation of words. The interesting thing is that the number of letters and phonemes in a word may not be the same, and this is one of the riches of our language.

Introduction

Portuguese is a very rich language full of particularities, especially when we talk about the relationship between writing and speech. The way we speak varies greatly depending on our region and culture, and this is reflected in the way we write.

In the first topic of this project, we will investigate the differences between written and spoken Portuguese. Speaking and writing are distinct skills, and each requires a different understanding of the language. While speech is more spontaneous and present in our daily lives, writing demands more organization and reflection.

In the second topic, we will explore the concepts of letter and phoneme. Understanding these concepts is fundamental for literacy and language teaching. Through the study of phonemes and letters, we can better understand the structure of our language, which helps us improve our reading and writing skills.

Detailed Project Description:

In this project, students will conduct a series of group activities to explore the world of phonemes and letters in the Portuguese language. Dividing into groups of three to five students, participants should develop a theatrical presentation, an explanatory panel, and a written report on the topic.

• Paper, pencil, and eraser.
• Colored pens.
• Cardboard or poster board.
• Computer with internet access.

Detailed Step-by-Step for Activity Execution:

1. Research and understanding of concepts: At the beginning of the project, students should conduct a detailed research on key concepts: writing and speech, letter and phoneme. Using the suggested resources above, each group should delve into the topics and share the knowledge acquired among themselves.

2. Theatrical presentation: As a practical part, students will create a theatrical presentation to illustrate the difference between letters and phonemes and between writing and speech.

   • Each group should develop a script, highlighting the difference between writing and speech in a daily life situation.

   • The theatrical presentation should include a scene specifically planned to show the difference between letters and phonemes. Tip: presenting words with the same number of letters but different numbers of phonemes can be an interesting idea.

3. Elaboration of an explanatory panel: The next stage of the project is the creation of a panel that visually presents the concepts of letter and phoneme, and the differences between writing and speech.

   • The panel should be colorful and informative, with clear and concise examples.

   • Each group should present their panel to the class, explaining the concepts and examples.

4. Writing the report: Finally, each group should write a report documenting the processes and results of the project. The report should include:

   • Introduction: Contextualization of the concepts involved and the project's objectives.

   • Development: Detailed description of the project execution process, including research, the script of the theatrical piece, the creation of the panel, and the presentation to the class.

   • Conclusion: Reflection on the group's learning, the difficulties encountered and how they were overcome, as well as comments on the discoveries made in the project.

   • Bibliography: The group should cite the sources used for research and project creation.

The project should be completed within a month, from the initial research to the panel presentation and report submission.
