Activity Title: Exploring the Bilingual Universe: Dictionaries and Digital Resources

Project Objective

The project aims to encourage students to explore and understand the organization and usage of dictionaries (printed and online), as well as other digital resources, to build a vast lexical repertoire in the English language.

Detailed Project Description

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 members, and each group will be responsible for exploring a dictionary (printed or online) and a digital resource (application or virtual environment) for English teaching. Each group should prepare a presentation on the resources explored, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses, characteristics, functionalities, and how these resources can help in learning English.

During the exploration, students should look for unknown words and note their definitions, synonyms, antonyms (if available), and examples of use. These words will form a 'Group Dictionary,' which will be part of the final project submission.

Required Materials

• Printed dictionary or access to a reliable online dictionary.
• Access to an application or virtual environment for English teaching.
• Materials for presentation preparation (paper, pencil, computer, etc).

Step by Step

1. Group formation and assignment of the dictionary and digital resource to each group.
2. Exploration of the assigned resources: students should explore the dictionary sections and the functionalities of the digital resource.
3. Each group should choose 20 unknown words and note their definitions, synonyms, antonyms, and examples of use in the 'Group Dictionary.'
4. Presentation preparation: each group should prepare a detailed presentation on the explored resources, highlighting their characteristics, functionalities, strengths, and weaknesses.
5. Presentation to the class: each group will make a presentation to the class, sharing their findings.
6. Write the final report: After the presentation, each group must write a detailed project report, according to the criteria below:

• Group Dictionary: A collection of 20 unknown words, including their definitions, synonyms, antonyms, and examples of use.

• Presentation: A detailed presentation on the explored resources, highlighting their characteristics, functionalities, strengths, and weaknesses.

• Final Report: Each group will have to write a detailed project report, addressing the following topics:
