Understanding how to craft a message is fundamental in our daily lives. We deal with texts all the time, whether on social media, emails, reports, or even in informal conversations. In writing, we are tasked with organizing our thoughts in a way that makes sense to our reader. In this context, textual devices are very useful tools that help us structure our messages so that they are clear, concise, and engaging.

There are several textual devices that we can use to craft our messages. Some of the most common include the use of figures of speech, proper punctuation, paragraph structuring, and sentence construction. These devices can help us make our writing clearer, more interesting, and more effective.

In our globalized and hyperconnected society, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively is vital. This is especially true in the workplace, where good communication can make the difference between success and failure. However, the importance of good communication extends far beyond the workplace. In all areas of life, being able to express oneself well and convey one's ideas effectively is an undeniable advantage.

Our challenge in this project is to deeply understand the different textual devices and how they can help us craft our messages. Through hands-on and collaborative activities, we will explore how these devices can be used in practice, and we hope that this will lead to a greater appreciation and understanding of how language can be used to communicate effectively.

Hands-on Activity

Activity Title: Crafting Impactful Messages: A Study of Textual Devices

Project Goal:

To analyze, understand, and apply textual devices to construct clear, concise, and engaging messages, while working in teams and practicing technical and socioemotional skills.

Detailed Project Description:

Groups will be challenged to produce three types of texts: an argumentative text, a poem, and an expository text. These texts will be written with the goal of effectively using textual devices. The choice of topics for these texts is up to the group, however, all topics must be within the students' lived experiences.

Materials Required:

• Computer with internet access
• Notebook and pen for taking notes
• Resources suggested in the contextualization phase

Detailed Step-by-Step Instructions for Carrying Out the Activity:

1. Group Organization: Form groups of three to five students. Establish clear rules for coexistence and cooperation.

2. Study of Textual Devices: The group should conduct in-depth research on textual devices. They should seek to understand the theory behind these devices, when and why they should be used, and their effects on the reader. This research can be done by reading books and reliable websites, and by watching educational videos.

3. Choice of Text Topics: As a group, students should discuss and define the topics of the three texts that will be written. The chosen topics must be within the students' lived experiences.

4. Text Production: The group should divide itself to produce the three texts. Collective decisions should be made about which textual devices will be used in each text, and how they will be used. After drafting the texts, the group members should meet to discuss the texts, identify possible improvements, and make revisions.

5. Description of Devices Used: The group should prepare a detailed description of which textual devices were used in each text and why. This work should reflect the group's understanding of the theory and practice of textual devices.

6. Writing the Written Document: The group should write the final document that will be submitted, as previously indicated, containing four main parts: Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography used. This document should be a reflection on the work carried out, including the detailed description of the devices used and a discussion of the results obtained.

7. Presentation of the Work: Finally, each group will present the texts produced, discuss the textual devices used, and share their discoveries and learning about the use of these devices during the project.

In this project, each group must submit:

1. Three produced texts: an argumentative text, a poem, and an expository text.

2. A detailed description of the textual devices used in each text.

3. The written document containing the Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography used.

It should be remembered that all work must be collaborative, with all group members actively involved in all stages of the project. In addition, the written document should not only reflect the work carried out, but also demonstrate the group's learning about textual devices, collaboration, and teamwork.
