Verse is generally employed in poems and songs, characterized by a defined rhythm and meter. Prose, on the other hand, is the natural form of linguistic expression, used in novels, short stories, chronicles, among others. Although they may seem different, both can be used to create incredible literary texts and offer a rich field of exploration for writers.

In this context, our project focuses on the exploration of verse and prose as literary forms, seeking to understand their characteristics, their history, and the different possibilities they offer in the construction of a literary text. The idea is not only to understand theoretically, but also to practice, writing our own literary texts!

Introduction to Key Concepts

To understand literature and its forms, we need to delve deep into the key concepts: What is verse? What is prose? What are their characteristics? How have they evolved over time and in different cultures? And, most importantly, how can we use these forms to create our own literary texts?

Verse is a form of writing with rhythm, which involves the manipulation of syllables and lines to create an aesthetic effect. It is commonly used in poetry and songs and has a long history dating back to the earliest times of literature.

Prose, on the other hand, is a more 'natural' form of writing, without concern for rhyme or rhythm. It is generally used in novels, short stories, essays, and other literary genres. Prose allows greater freedom in the construction of texts, enabling a deeper exploration of the author's ideas and feelings.

The Importance of Verse and Prose

Verse and prose are essential tools in literature, as they provide different and complementary methods of expression. Verse, with its rhythm and musicality, has the power to enchant and move. Prose, with its freedom and flexibility, can explore ideas and thoughts in a deeper and more complex way.

Whatever path we choose - verse, prose, or a combination of both - we will be able to express our thoughts and feelings more effectively and artistically.

Activity Title: "Poems and Proses of the World: An Interactive Journey"

Project Objective

To develop an understanding of verse and prose through research, analysis, creation, and presentation of a literary text involving these two elements. This project, in addition to encouraging collaborative learning and appreciation of literature, will also be linked to the History discipline, addressing the evolution of literature, the historical context of the analyzed texts, and the relevant literary movements.

Detailed Project Description

Each group of students, composed of 3 to 5 members, will be responsible for selecting a literary movement from history. They will research the history of the movement, the fundamental characteristics of prose and verse in that period, and select a representative literary text (it can be a poem, song, short story, excerpt from a novel, etc).

The students will then engage in a deep analysis of this text, focusing on the verse and prose techniques used, the structure and style of the text, and the historical and cultural context in which it was written.

After conducting this analysis, the students will be challenged to create their own literary text (it can be a poem, a short story, a song, etc) inspired by the literary movement they studied. They should try to imitate the characteristics of verse and/or prose of the movement, as well as its style and theme.

Finally, each group will present their research, analysis, and creation to the class.

• Paper and pens for notes and drafting of the literary creation.

Detailed Step-by-Step for Activity Execution

1. Formation of groups of 3 to 5 students.

2. Selection of a literary movement per group and start of research on the movement, its characteristics, historical context, and representatives.

3. Selection and reading of the representative literary text of the chosen movement.

4. Detailed analysis of the selected text, considering aspects of verse, prose, structure, style, and historical context.

5. Creation of a literary text inspired by the studied literary movement, following its characteristics of verse and/or prose and theme.

6. Preparation of a presentation addressing the research conducted, the analysis of the selected text, and the reading of the text created by the group.

7. Presentation to the class and discussion with classmates.

Project Deliverables and Connection with Activities

The final work will consist of two parts: the oral presentation to the class and a written report.

The oral presentation will be a moment of sharing and discussion with the class. Groups should explain the choice of the literary movement, present their research, read and discuss the selected literary text, and also present the literary text they created.

The written report, on the other hand, complements the presentation. It should be structured in four parts: introduction, development, conclusion, and bibliography.

1. Introduction: Contextualization of the chosen literary movement, relevance and application of the concepts of verse and prose in that movement, and the group's objectives with the project.

2. Development: Detailed presentation of the research conducted and the analysis of the selected text, explanation of the identified verse and prose techniques, historical context of the movement and the text, and the methodology used by the group. In addition, the text created by the group should be presented, and the results obtained should be discussed.

3. Conclusion: Review of the main points addressed in the work, lessons learned, and conclusions about the experience.

4. Bibliography: References of all sources used during the project.

The project aims to develop students' research, critical analysis, creative writing, and oral presentation skills, as well as deepen their understanding of literary and historical concepts.
