Meiosis, on the other hand, is a cell division process that results in four genetically distinct daughter cells. This is the key process for sexual reproduction, producing eggs and sperm.

Activity Title: Modeling Cell Division

Project Objective:

Project Description:

Students, in groups of 3 to 5, will create a 3D model that represents the stages of Mitosis and Meiosis. The model should be detailed enough to be used in a presentation to the rest of the class and can be made using any type of material available.

Materials Required:

  • Cardboard
  • Colored paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Markers
  • Wire
  • Modeling clay

Step-by-Step:

  1. Research and Planning: Based on the suggested resource materials and other reputable sources, research the stages of Mitosis and Meiosis. Sketch out how you will represent these stages in a 3D model.

  2. Model Creation: Using the provided materials, create the model according to your drafted plan.

  3. Presentation Development: Prepare a presentation explaining each stage of the Mitosis and Meiosis processes, using the model as a visual aid.

  4. Presentation: Present your model and explanation to the rest of the class.

Project Deliverables:

In addition to the model and presentation, each group must turn in a written report containing an introduction, development, conclusions, and bibliography of sources used.

The report should be written as follows:
