Activity Title: The Great Bones Challenge

Project Objective: The objective of the project is to help students understand the importance of the skeletal system and how it functions, encouraging research skills, teamwork, and critical thinking. Students will engage in various activities such as building a 3D model of the human skeleton, researching diseases that affect the skeletal system, understanding how accidents can impact the system, and what preventive actions can be taken.

Detailed Project Description: This project involves three main stages:

  1. Building a 3D Model of the Skeletal System: Students will build a 3D model of a human skeleton using recyclable materials or assembly kits, representing all the main parts of the skeletal system.
  2. Research and Presentation on Skeletal System Diseases: The group of students will research diseases that affect the skeletal system (such as osteoporosis) and present to the class in the form of a seminar.
  3. Risk Analysis and Fracture Prevention: Students will examine everyday life risk situations that can result in fractures and propose preventive actions.

Materials Needed:

  1. Recyclable materials or kits for building the 3D skeleton model.
  2. Internet access and books for research purposes.
  3. Presentation software for seminar preparation (e.g., PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Prezi).

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Students should form groups of 3 to 5 members and divide project responsibilities.
  2. For the construction of the 3D model, students can use recyclable materials or construction kits, prioritizing the representation of essential parts of the skeletal system.
  3. The group should research diseases that affect the skeletal system (such as osteoporosis), focusing on understanding their causes, symptoms, treatment, and prevention.
  4. Based on the research, students will prepare a seminar to present to the class, explaining the theory and key points of the research.
  5. Students will also examine everyday life situations that can lead to fractures and propose measures for prevention, applying their acquired knowledge.

Project Delivery:

After completing the practical activity, students should prepare a final report that includes the following elements:

  1. Introduction: Provide context for the theme, its relevance, and real-world applications.
  2. Development: Describe the activity in detail, including the methodology used, present and discuss the results obtained. It should include the entire project process, from model construction to research conducted and fracture prevention proposals.
  3. Conclusions: Students should conclude the work by summarizing the main points, explaining the lessons learned, and drawing conclusions about the project.
  4. Bibliography: Indicate the sources used for the work such as books, web pages, videos, etc.

The report should be presented to the class and submitted for evaluation. This final delivery should reflect the teamwork and learning of all group members throughout the project.
