Context

The Middle East is one of the most complex and volatile regions in the world, characterized by a rich and conflict-ridden history that spans millennia. It is the cradle of several ancient civilizations and three of the world's major religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. However, it is also a region marked by religious wars, ethnic conflicts, and struggles over territory and natural resources.

The conflicts in the Middle East are not simply about religion or ethnicity, but also about power, politics, natural resources, and the influence of external forces. They are the result of a complex web of alliances and rivalries, both within the region and with the rest of the world.

Introduction

The "Middle East Conflicts" project proposes a thematic approach to analyze the recent and current history of this very important and troubled region. The main conflicts and the main political, social, economic, and cultural issues that fuel them will be addressed.

The first key theme of the project is the analysis of the historical and contemporary conflicts in the Middle East, exploring the origins, causes, developments, and consequences of these conflicts. The second key theme is the analysis of the impacts of these conflicts outside the region, in particular the influence of the Middle East on global politics and on issues such as immigration and terrorism.

Practical Activity

Activity title: "Analysis and Simulation of Conflicts in the Middle East"

Project goal

The goal of the project is to deepen knowledge about the conflicts in the Middle East, exploring the origins, causes, developments, and consequences of these conflicts in an interactive and collaborative way, through detailed research and a simulation of one of the selected conflicts.

Detailed description of the project

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 people. Each group must choose one of the conflicts in the Middle East to be studied, exploring the history, stakeholders, causes, developments, and consequences of that conflict.

Once the research has been carried out, each group must prepare an oral presentation and a simulation of the selected conflict. The simulation should represent the main events and stakeholders of the conflict, and should be designed to facilitate understanding for other students.

The activity will be completed with the writing of a detailed report on the research and simulation.

Required materials

1. Books, articles, and other research resources
2. Computer with Internet access
3. Materials for the simulation (e.g., paper, pencils, markers, poster board, tape, etc.)

Step by step

1. Students are divided into groups of 3 to 5 people.
2. Each group selects a conflict in the Middle East to be studied.
3. Research is conducted on the selected conflict, exploring the history, stakeholders, causes, developments, and consequences of that conflict.
4. An oral presentation about the conflict is prepared.
5. A simulation of the conflict is developed using the available materials.
6. Oral presentation and simulation are performed for the class.
7. A detailed report on the research and simulation is written.

Throughout the project, students should communicate and collaborate effectively, managing their time and resources efficiently.

Project Deliverables and Written Document

Students must deliver the following at the end of the project:

1. Oral Presentation (10-15 minutes)
2. Simulation (10-15 minutes)
3. Written Report (3-5 pages)

The written report should follow the format of a research report, including:

1. Introduction: The student should contextualize the chosen conflict, its relevance, and the objective of this project.
2. Development: The student should explain the theory behind the chosen conflict, explain the activity in detail, indicate the methodology used and finally present and discuss the results obtained.
3. Conclusion: The student should conclude the work by summarizing his main points, explaining the lessons learned and the conclusions drawn about the project.
4. Bibliography: The student should indicate the sources on which they based their work on the project, such as books, web pages, videos, etc.

This report will be essential to assess students' understanding of the chosen conflict, the research and simulation process, and their ability to work in teams and communicate their ideas clearly and effectively.
