Contextualization

The relationship between man, economy, and nature has been a focus of multidisciplinary study in sociology, economics, ecology, and other disciplines. One of the key theoretical concepts that will be explored in this project is "sustainability", which refers to the ability of human systems to continue indefinitely within natural limits. In other words, it is the ability to meet current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own. This involves three main pillars: ecological, economic, and social.

The second important concept is "sustainable development", which is intrinsically related to sustainability. The UN World Commission on Environment and Development, known as the Brundtland Commission, defined sustainable development as "development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." This means balancing economic growth and quality of life with environmental health and ecological well-being.

Finally, the third concept we will explore is "responsible consumption", which involves choosing products and services that have been produced and/or offered in a way that minimizes socio-environmental impacts, and adopting conscious consumption practices that take into account the value of natural resources and the need to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

The relevance of these concepts today is undeniable. We live in a time of climate change and accelerated environmental degradation, with serious consequences for humanity and all living beings. Our global economy is unsustainable, as it is increasingly recognized. We, as a society and as individuals, need to change the way we live and consume to ensure our common future.

This project seeks to explore this issue in depth and in a practical way. To this end, we recommend the following literature for further study:
