Transportation is a vital component of a country due to its direct impact on economic development. It provides a critical link between production and the market, facilitating trade between producers and consumers. Therefore, it is essential to have a solid understanding of the different transportation modes, their characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages.
Transportation modes are not independent of each other but interdependent. That is, one transportation mode may be preferred over another depending on the circumstances or the process. Understanding the characteristics and applicability of each mode and how they integrate is crucial to understanding urban, economic, and social development.
In the modern world, transportation plays a significant role in our daily lives. It directly affects personal mobility, trade, industrial activities, and quality of life. Additionally, transportation has a substantial impact on the environment. Transportation modes differ in terms of energy efficiency, greenhouse gas emissions, and other environmental impacts.
Given the central role of transportation modes in economic development and quality of life, it is relevant and timely to discuss this issue. This project will offer students the opportunity to explore in-depth the different transportation modes, evaluating their economic, social, and environmental impacts.

Project Objective
The objective of this project is to have students investigate and analyze different transportation modes in their own city or a city of their choice, evaluating the socioeconomic, environmental, and political implications of each mode. Additionally, students should create an interactive map and a detailed presentation about what they have learned.
Detailed Project Description
Students, divided into groups of 3 to 5, should choose a city and conduct a detailed research on the different transportation modes available in that city. They need to gather information on how each transportation mode (road, rail, air, water, and pipeline) is used in the city and what are the socioeconomic, environmental, and political implications associated with each.
For this, they can use public data from the selected city, conduct interviews with professionals in the field, visit transportation-related institutions, etc. Research sources should be diverse and reliable.
Students will also be responsible for creating an interactive map of the city, highlighting the main transportation routes, the modes present, congested areas, underutilized areas, and improvement proposals.
Additionally, each group must prepare a detailed project presentation, which includes the research conducted, the interactive map, and an action plan to improve urban mobility in the chosen city.

Detailed Step-by-Step
- Form groups of 3 to 5 students.
- Choose a city for the research.
- Conduct a detailed research on the different transportation modes in the chosen city.
