They were: Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts Bay, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia, New York, North Carolina, and Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.

In this project, we will delve into the formation of the Thirteen Colonies, explore their different characteristics, and understand the fundamental role they played in the formation of the United States of America. Each colony had its own peculiarities, from economic, cultural, and religious differences, which ended up influencing the federalist character of the newly formed country.

Initially, the colonies were established for commercial or religious purposes. Over time, they developed into multifaceted societies with their own political and cultural identity. The conflict with the British metropolis, culminating in the War of Independence, was a fundamental stage in the formation of the United States.

Project Objective

Students should study the history, culture, economy, and politics of each of the Thirteen Colonies and create informative panels and detailed presentations to share their knowledge with the class.

Through this activity, students will gain a deep understanding of the origins of the United States and how the establishment of these colonies contributed to the nation's formation.

Detailed Project Description

Students will be divided into 13 groups, each representing one of the Thirteen Colonies. Each group will be assigned one of the colonies and should extensively research their assignment, focusing on the following topics:

1. Colonization and foundation history.
2. Economy (economic activities, main products, etc.)
3. Society (social structure, customs, religion, etc.)
4. Conflict with the metropolis and participation in the War of Independence.

The activity will be divided into two main parts: panel creation and oral presentation.

Required Materials

• Cardboard or poster boards
• Markers, colored pens, colored pencils
• Computers with internet access for research
• Various materials for decoration and creation of three-dimensional models (optional)

Detailed Step-by-Step

1. Research (2 hours): Groups should start by researching their colony in the context of the above topics. They should use the provided resources and may seek further information in the library or on the internet.

2. Panel Construction (1 hour): With the gathered information, groups need to create an informative panel. It should include images, maps, charts, and other visual ways to represent the information.

3. Preparation and rehearsal of the presentation (1 hour): Groups should prepare a 5 to 10-minute presentation about their colony. The presentation should be structured as a narrative covering the four research topics.

4. Presentations (Variable time): Each group will present their panel and give a brief lecture about their colony.
