Context

The Cuban Revolution was a key event that took place in the 20th century and deeply marked the history of the American continent, specifically the history of Cuba. This political event significantly altered the political and social organization of the island, as well as its relations with the United States and the Soviet Union, major world powers at the time.

The beginning of this revolution is dated July 26, 1953, but its roots go much deeper into Cuban history. Popular dissatisfaction with the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista, economic inequalities, and dependence on the United States are factors that catalyzed the beginning of this movement that sought a new order for the country.

Introduction

This stage of the project was designed to help students understand the reasons that led to the outbreak of the Cuban Revolution. It is important to understand the historical, political, economic, and social context of the island, as well as the role of controversial figures such as Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, who played a vital role in leading such revolution.

As part of this exercise, students will analyze the period leading up to the revolution, the living conditions of the Cuban population under Batista's government, external influences, and the events that culminated in the end of the dictatorship and the establishment of socialism in Cuba.

For this study, materials such as books, documentaries, and academic articles on the Cuban Revolution will be necessary. Project Objective

The objective of this activity is to provide a playful and engaging deepening of knowledge about the Cuban Revolution. Through theatrical representation, students will have the opportunity to internalize the content, improve oral and body expression, as well as develop skills such as teamwork, historical research, and understanding of global political events.

Detailed Project Description

Groups of 3 to 5 students will research, create, and present a theatrical piece that addresses the Cuban Revolution, from the pre-revolutionary period to its consequences and legacies. The play should include scenes discussing the main events, prominent figures such as Fidel Castro, Ernesto 'Che' Guevara, Fulgencio Batista, among others, and the consequences of this revolution from a historical perspective.

• Books, websites, documentaries, and other sources that help understand the Cuban Revolution and the characters involved.
• Clothing and accessories for characterizing the characters.
• Cell phone or camera to record the theatrical presentation.

Detailed Step-by-Step

1. Form groups of 3 to 5 students.
2. Each group should start by researching the Cuban Revolution, its context, main issues, prominent characters, and consequences.
3. Based on the research, groups should develop a script for the theatrical piece, dividing the roles among the members. The script should contain a chronological sequence of events and must be approved by the teacher.
4. Once the script is approved, groups should rehearse the play, with the proper characterization of the characters.
5. Groups should record their presentation and submit the video to the teacher.
6. In addition to the video, each group must submit a report, which should include: introduction (historical context and justification for the choice of scenes), development (explanation of the play's production, the choice of characters, and the sequence of events), conclusion (reflections on what was learned in the research and preparation of the play and the relationship with the content studied in class), and bibliography (sources of research for the script and the play).

Project Deliverables

At the end of the month, each group must deliver:

• The video of the theatrical piece about the Cuban Revolution.
• A report detailing the research process, script development, rehearsal, and recording of the play. This report should present the Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography used.

By executing the project, students will be able to understand the main events and characters of the Cuban Revolution, have a critical view of the period, and reflect on the consequences of the revolution.
