Contextualization
Theoretical Introduction
Pronouns are vital components in the structure of our speech and writing, they play the important role of replacing, accompanying, or referring to nouns. They are essential for the fluency and cohesion of our sentences, allowing us not to constantly repeat the same name or noun. Pronouns can be classified into different groups, depending on their use and purpose in discourse: personal, possessive, demonstrative, honorific, interrogative, relative, and indefinite.
In this project, we will focus on relative, interrogative, and indefinite pronouns. Relative pronouns are used to establish a relationship between two clauses, they have the grammatical function of replacing a term and, at the same time, referring to that previously mentioned term. Interrogative pronouns, as the name suggests, are used to form questions, whether direct or indirect. Indefinite pronouns are used when we want to refer to people, things, or places in an undetermined or indefinite way.
Contextualization and Relevance
Relative, interrogative, and indefinite pronouns are powerful tools that we use daily to enrich our discourse, make communication more efficient, and express nuances of meaning. They are used in all aspects of everyday life: in informal conversations, in academic environments, in literature, in journalism, and in all types of written and spoken texts.
Understanding the use and importance of these types of pronouns allows us to improve our language skills, from text interpretation to writing production, whether for exam preparation or to enhance daily communication. Furthermore, a deep understanding of these concepts helps us develop our ability to think logically and structured.

Activity Title: Pronouns in Focus: A Didactic Card Game
Project Objective
The objective of this project is to create a didactic card game to explore the use of relative, interrogative, and indefinite pronouns in a playful and collaborative context.
Detailed Project Description
Students, divided into groups of 3 to 5, will create a card game that involves the identification and correct use of these pronouns. The game must have clear rules and distinct prizes to motivate competition. Each card should have sentences without pronouns, and players must find the most suitable pronoun to complete them.
It is expected that this project promotes collaboration, creativity, effective communication, and critical thinking within the group. In addition, students should conduct research and apply a problem-solving mindset when designing the game.
The project will be divided into several stages, and students must manage their time effectively to ensure that all stages are completed within a pre-established deadline.
Required Materials
- Cardboard/color set for making the cards
- Colored pens/markers
- Computer with internet access (for research)
- Books and study materials for consultation
Detailed Step-by-Step
-
Research and Planning: Students should research relative, indefinite, and interrogative pronouns and plan how the game will work, creating a clear set of rules and objectives.
-
Card and Rules Creation: The next step is to start creating the cards and writing the game rules. Each card should have a sentence with a gap where the pronoun should be. The cards also need to indicate the classification of the expected pronoun (relative, indefinite, interrogative).
-
Test Game: Once the cards and rules have been made, students should play the game in their respective groups. This step is crucial to identify any possible errors and inconsistencies in the rules or cards.
-
Refinement: After the test game, students should review and adjust the game rules and cards, correcting errors and improving formats if necessary.
-
Presentation: Finally, the groups present their game to the class, explaining the rules and answering any questions that may arise.
Project Deliverables
In addition to the card game, each group must deliver a project report presenting the following topics:
-
Introduction: Details the relevance of studying pronouns and the objective of this project.
-
Development: Describes the planning and creation process of the game, as well as the game rules. This section should also include a theoretical analysis of relative, indefinite, and interrogative pronouns, with examples of how they are used in the game.
-
Conclusion: Summarizes the main points of the project, highlights the learnings obtained, and the conclusions drawn from the project.
-
Bibliography: Lists the sources consulted during the project development.
The written document should complement the results achieved in the game, providing theoretical and contextual reflections on the practical learning acquired with the game.
