Adverb: Denotative Words and Preposition

Contextualization

Portuguese is a rich and complex language, full of nuances and particularities that influence our way of expressing ideas and feelings. Among the components that give life to our language are the adverb, the denotative words, and the preposition. Each of these elements has a specific function in the sentence and, together, they contribute to the elaboration of a cohesive and coherent discourse.

The adverb is an invariable word that modifies the meaning of a verb, adjective, or another adverb. It is used to express circumstances of manner, place, time, intensity, doubt, among others. The denotative words are words or expressions that aim to reinforce, clarify, explain, or emphasize something that has been said. Finally, the preposition is an invariable word that establishes a relationship of dependence between two or more terms of the sentence.

Understanding these concepts and knowing how to use them correctly is essential for the construction of clear and objective texts. In addition, the ability to use the language properly facilitates communication and enables better social interaction. In the professional scope, language proficiency can be a differential, not only for writing reports and proposals but also for presenting ideas and arguments.

The Portuguese language is an important tool for expression and communication, being used daily in all situations of our lives. Understanding how it works helps us to express ourselves better and understand others more effectively. This project aims to facilitate the understanding and use of these important linguistic tools so that they can be applied in all areas of life.

Practical Activity

Activity Title: Unveiling and Applying the Adverb, Denotative Words, and the Preposition

Project Objective:

This project aims to lead students to understand and effectively apply the concepts of adverb, denotative words, and preposition in the elaboration of texts. In addition, it aims to promote collaboration, creativity, and effective communication among students.

Detailed Description of the Project:

Students should form groups of 3 to 5 members. Each group will be responsible for creating a short theatrical script where the use of adverbs, denotative words, and prepositions will be essential for understanding the story.

In this script, the group should include:

  • A scene where the use of adverbs is essential for the expression of circumstances (place, manner, time, etc.);
  • A scene where denotative words are used to emphasize or clarify an important point in the story;
  • And a scene where the use of prepositions establishes a clear and expressive relationship between the terms of the sentence.

In addition to writing the script, the groups must perform and record the play for later analysis.

Materials Required:

To carry out this project, you will need:

  • Paper and pen for preparing the script;
  • Camera or smartphone for recording the theatrical performance;
  • Internet access for research and study.

Detailed Step-by-Step:

  1. Form the workgroups.

  2. Conduct in-depth research on the concepts of adverb, denotative words, and preposition and how they can be used in writing a theatrical script.

  3. Create a theatrical script where the use of adverbs, denotative words, and prepositions is essential for understanding the story.

  4. Perform and record the theatrical performance based on the script created.

  5. Prepare a report following the given guidelines, where students should detail the entire process of creating the script and the theatrical performance, as well as the application of the concepts of adverb, denotative words, and preposition.

Project Deliverables:

Students should submit the video of the theatrical performance along with a written report following the format of Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography used.

  • The introduction should address the relevance and application of the adverb, denotative words, and preposition in the real world and the objective of the project.
  • In the development, students should explain the theory of the concepts applied, detail the activity carried out, the methodology used, and the results achieved.
  • In the conclusion, the main points of the project, the lessons learned, and the conclusions drawn about the activity should be revisited.
  • The bibliography should indicate all sources used for the project's development.

Through this project, students will be able to understand in a practical and playful way the importance and application of the concepts of adverb, denotative words, and preposition, in addition to developing socio-emotional skills such as time management, communication, problem-solving, and creative thinking.
