Contextualization

Handball is a team sport created by the German teacher Karl Schellenz in the early 20th century. The sport is played by two teams of seven players, with six on the court and one goalkeeper. The objective of the game is to throw the ball towards the opponent's goal, scoring points when it crosses the goal line.

This sport is one of the most popular in the Olympics and in world championships, being an excellent example of teamwork, strategy, motor skills, and physical abilities. Therefore, handball is a very relevant and rich topic to be addressed in our project.

Introduction

Throughout this project, we will delve into the handball universe, learning about its history, rules, techniques, and strategies involved. Additionally, we will analyze matches and team/player performances, as well as the execution of specific training and movements in this sport.

The topic was chosen not only for the wealth and diversity of the contents that can be explored but also for the opportunity to work on socio-emotional skills such as communication, teamwork, time management, among others.

In addition to Physical Education, the project will also involve the Portuguese Language discipline, as students will be challenged to produce a report on the project, thus developing their writing, argumentation, and critical analysis skills.

Activity Title: 'Handball: From Theory to Practice'

Project Objective

To deeply understand the game of Handball, its rules, techniques, strategies, and concepts through theoretical research, game analysis, and practical training execution.

Detailed Project Description

The project will be conducted in groups of 3 to 5 students and will have an estimated duration of 15 hours of work per student. The project consists of three main parts:

1. Theoretical research: Students should research the history and rules of Handball, as well as its main techniques and strategies involved. This knowledge will serve as a basis for the following phases of the project.

2. Game analysis: Students will watch Handball matches (available online or in local championships) and analyze these games, considering the rules, techniques, and strategies previously studied.

3. Practical training: Under the guidance of the teacher, students will put into practice the techniques and strategies studied, performing specific Handball training, simulating game situations.

Detailed Step-by-Step for Activity Execution

1. Theoretical research: Students should read about the history of Handball, its basic rules, fundamentals, techniques, and strategies involved. They can use textbooks, reliable websites, or watch educational videos on the subject.

2. Game analysis: Watch at least two full Handball matches, preferably from different levels (amateur x professional). During each game, take notes on players' decisions, movements, strategies, rule applications, among others.

3. Practical training: In a court or suitable space, each group will perform specific Handball movements and techniques learned in the theoretical study and game observation. The group should create and execute a training plan, considering technical movements, game strategies, and rule application, alternating between players, coaches, and observers.

Project Deliverables and Document Formatting

At the end of the project, each group must submit a written report, with a minimum of 10 pages, following the structure below:

1. Introduction: Contextualization of the theme, its relevance, and project objective.

2. Development: Description of the theoretical research process, detailing the concepts learned. Analysis of observed games and discussion of the practical application of these concepts during training. Methodology used by the group for organization and execution of activities.

3. Conclusions: Recap of the main points, lessons learned, and reflections on the learning experience.

4. Bibliography: References of materials consulted during the project (books, websites, videos, etc).
