Reading and Comprehension

Contextualization

Reading and textual comprehension are fundamental skills in school life and also in everyday life. Through reading, we are able to travel to other worlds, explore new cultures, learn new languages, learn about history and many other aspects that enrich our worldview. In this sense, reading is not just an act of decoding words, but of understanding and interpreting what is being read. That is why we propose an engaging and challenging project that will help you, dear students, to further develop this competence.

Reading and understanding a text is like entering a new universe, where we can experience and understand different points of view. For this, it is necessary that we know how to identify the main ideas, understand the context and references, make inferences and learn from the texts. These skills are not only important for Portuguese classes, but are essential requirements in all our disciplines and areas of study, in addition to being essential skills for our daily lives.

Introduction

In this project, we will dive into the universe of reading, exploring different textual genres and authors. We will learn about the elements that make up a text and how they contribute to its meaning. We will discuss reading methods and strategies to improve textual comprehension. In addition, we will relate this learning to the History discipline, seeking to understand the historical and cultural contexts that influence literary production.

Reading is a tool that allows us to know different worlds, experience new experiences and broaden our view of reality. Understanding a text goes beyond the simple decoding of words: it is understanding the context, capturing the small nuances and appreciating the art that is revealed between the lines. And that is what we are going to work on in this project: the art of reading and understanding.

To delve into this topic, we will use as a basis the book "How to Read Books: The Classic Guide to Intelligent Reading" by Mortimer J. Adler, available in our library. In addition, we will use various literary texts from different genres and authors. All this to provide you with a rich and engaging experience in the art of reading and textual comprehension.
