Let's start by understanding the basic structure of the sentence, more specifically the subject and the verb in the sentence. Whether we are reading a book, writing an essay, or simply talking to a friend, we are constantly using subjects and verbs without even realizing it. It is essential for the comprehension and production of texts to understand how these elements work.

The subject is the term about which something is said, it is who performs or suffers the action. The verb is the word that indicates action, state, or natural phenomenon, and agrees with the subject in number (singular or plural) and person (1st, 2nd, or 3rd). Precisely identifying the subject and the verb in a sentence helps to understand the complete meaning of the sentence.

To help us deepen our understanding, we have two reliable resources. The first one is the book 'Gramática da Língua Portuguesa' by Maria Helena de Moura Neves. Despite being a more technical resource, it is a very solid and comprehensive reference. The second resource is the website 'Só Português', a free online platform that provides clear explanations and practical examples.

Importance of the Theme

The ability to identify subjects and verbs in a sentence is a fundamental tool for understanding the Portuguese language and, consequently, most of the texts we read daily. Without this understanding, we become passive readers, unable to fully understand what we are reading.

Furthermore, this skill is not only important in school or university but also in our personal and professional lives. Practical Activity: 'Mastering Subject and Verb in the Sentence'

Project Objective

The objective of this project is for each group of students (3 to 5 people) to engage in an interactive and fun process to understand the basic structure of sentences, especially the use of subjects and verbs. At the end of the project, students should be able to recognize and correctly apply the subject and the verb in various sentences.

Detailed Project Description

The project will be carried out in three phases and will last for one month. It will consist of reading and writing activities, research, and presentation of a final report.

Necessary Materials

The following materials will be necessary for the execution of this project:

1. Book 'Gramática da Língua Portuguesa' by Maria Helena de Moura Neves - for more in-depth research.
2. Internet access - for research on the website 'Só Português' and other online sources.
3. Paper and pens/markers - for notes and preparation of the final report.
4. Computer or smartphone - for the preparation of the final report.

Phase 1: Understanding (Duration: 2 weeks)

In the first phase, students will conduct research using the book 'Gramática da Língua Portuguesa' and the website 'Só Português'. They will take notes on the definitions of subject and verb, as well as relevant examples. This will help solidify their understanding of these concepts.

Phase 2: Application (Duration: 1 week)

In the second phase, groups will select texts from various sources (books, articles, blogs, etc.) and identify the subjects and verbs in various sentences. They will also create their own sentences, ensuring the correct use of the subject and the verb. This phase will allow them to apply what they learned in the research phase.

Phase 3: Creation of the Final Report (Duration: 1 week)

In the third and final phase, each group will use the notes and sentences they collected to create a detailed final report. The report should contain the following elements:

1. Introduction: Here, students must contextualize the theme, explain its relevance and real-world application, and define the objective of this project.

2. Development: In this section, students must explain the theory behind subjects and verbs, based on their research. They must also describe the activities they carried out, the methodology used, and the results obtained.

3. Conclusion: Here, students must summarize their main points, explain the learnings obtained, and draw conclusions about the project.

4. Bibliography: Finally, students must indicate the sources they consulted to work on the project, such as books, web pages, videos, etc.

The final report must be submitted by the end of the last day of the project.
