These elements include pitch (how high or low a sound is), intensity (how strong or weak a sound is), timbre (the 'color' or quality of a sound that allows us to distinguish different sounds), rhythm (the temporal pattern in music), and melody (the succession of notes that make up the 'main line' of the music).

Studying these elements allows us to appreciate music in a deeper and more meaningful way. Music is not just a series of notes played in sequence, but rather a complex network of intertwined sounds that work together to create a unique sonic experience. Practical Activity

Activity Title: 'Musical Structure: Create Your Own Composition'

Project Objective:

The objective of this project is to allow students to dive into music theory, understanding the building blocks of music and their interaction in creating a musical piece. From this, they should be able to apply this theory to create their own musical compositions.

Detailed Project Description:

In this project, students will be working in groups of 3 to 5 members. Each group will have a week to research and understand the building blocks of music, and use this knowledge to create an original musical composition.

Required Materials:

• Internet access (for content research and virtual musical instruments)
• Musical instruments (if available)
• Audio recording software (Free options include: Audacity, GarageBand, etc.)
• Paper and pen for notes

Step-by-Step Activity Execution:

1. Research: Students should start researching the five building blocks of music (pitch, intensity, timbre, rhythm, and melody). They should use the provided bibliography and additional sources, if necessary, to understand the theory behind these elements.

2. Discussion and Planning: After the research, the group should discuss and formulate a plan on how to use the elements of music in creating a musical composition. During this stage, students should decide on the composition's theme, the type of instruments to be used, and the overall structure of the composition.

3. Musical Composition: In this stage, students should start working on their composition. They can use any available resources: real musical instruments, virtual musical instruments, audio recording software, etc. The goal is to build a musical composition that incorporates and demonstrates their understanding of the elements of music.

4. Recording: After completing the composition, the group should record the piece using audio recording software.

5. Report: Finally, students should prepare a detailed report on the project, explaining the composition creation process, the theory behind the elements used, and discussing the results.

Project Deliverables:

At the end of the week, each group must present:

• The musical composition: The recording of the created musical composition, accompanied by a written description of the music elements incorporated in the composition.

• The project report: This is a document detailing the composition creation process. It should contain four sections: Introduction, Development, Conclusion, and Bibliography.

In the Introduction, students should contextualize the theme, its relevance and real-world application, and the objective of this project.

In the Development, students should explain the theory behind the elements of music, detail the activity, indicate the methodology used, and finally present and discuss the results obtained.

In the Conclusion, students should conclude the work by summarizing their main points, explaining the learnings obtained, and drawing conclusions about the project.

In the Bibliography, students should indicate the sources they relied on to work on the project such as books, web pages, videos, etc.

This project goes beyond the acquisition of theoretical knowledge, emphasizing the development of socio-emotional skills such as teamwork, time management, creative thinking, and problem-solving.
