The event, which spanned from 1789 to 1799, put an end to the Old Regime, establishing new parameters for political and social organization that are still influential in understanding the democratic rule of law.

The consequences of the French Revolution extend to this day in various fields of knowledge. In the political realm, the revolution gave rise to the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, one of the most important documents in the history of human rights. In the scientific field, the revolutionary period marked the beginning of the systematic application of the scientific method to various areas of knowledge. In the geographical field, the revolution accelerated processes of urbanization and territorial reorganization.

Relevant to the disciplines of History and Human Sciences, the study of the French Revolution provides an understanding of important social, economic, and political phenomena that marked the transition to modernity. The goal of this project is not only to comprehend the revolutionary process itself but also to analyze its consequences and the importance of the concepts of liberty, equality, and fraternity in shaping the contemporary world.

Activity Title: "The Bastille in My Hands: An Immersion in the French Revolution"

Project Objective

To promote a detailed and multidisciplinary study of the French Revolution, focusing on its historical context, key events, leaders, outcomes, and its significance for the contemporary world. Additionally, it aims to stimulate communication skills, teamwork, problem-solving, and time management.

Detailed Project Description

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 people and will be tasked with creating a theatrical presentation about the French Revolution. Throughout this practical activity, they must conduct in-depth research on the concepts and historical context of the Revolution, creating a script, characters, and settings for their plays.

The play should address, at least, the four key theoretical concepts: The Enlightenment, the Glorious Revolution in England, the organization of the contemporary world, and the role of the Hispanic-American colonies and the African continent during imperialism.

The project will encompass two disciplines: History and Arts. In the History discipline, students will have to research and understand the context and outcomes of the French Revolution. In the Arts discipline, they will be responsible for creating the settings, costumes, and characters.

This project will require at least 12 hours of work per student involved, divided between historical research, script creation, rehearsals, and set design.

Required Materials

1. History books, documentaries, articles, and other materials for research.
2. Paper and pencils for script creation.
3. Various materials for creating sets and costumes.
4. Camera or recording device to document the play, in case the presentation cannot be done live.

Detailed Step-by-Step

Project Deliverables

After completing the practical activity, students must submit their deliverables in two parts:

1. Play Presentation: The play can be presented live or recorded, depending on the possibilities. The important thing is that it addresses the key concepts and demonstrates the students' understanding of them.

2. Report: Students must also submit a detailed report containing the following topics:

   • Introduction: Provide context on the French Revolution, discuss its relevance, and explain the project's objective.

   • Development: Describe the theory studied, explain in detail the activity carried out, the methodology used, and present the results obtained.

   • Conclusions: Discuss the conclusions drawn about the project and the learnings obtained.

   • Bibliography: Indicate the sources used for research and project implementation.
