Practical Activity: 'The Faces of the Arab Spring'

Project Objective

To understand the Arab Spring, its contexts, consequences, and the relationship between the different countries involved in the movement.

Activity Description

In this activity, groups will conduct a detailed research and presentation on the Arab Spring. Each group will be responsible for researching the movement in one of the following countries: Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Yemen, Syria, and Bahrain.

The activity will be done in stages, first the research and then the preparation of a written document and a presentation. The written document should detail the country's context before the Arab Spring, the events that occurred during the movement, the changes that occurred as a result, and the current situation of the country. The presentation should be creative and involve the class, and may include audiovisuals, dramatizations, debates, and any element that the group believes to be interesting.

This activity is designed to be completed in about a month, with enough time for research, document preparation, and presentation preparation.

    • In the Conclusions, each group should analyze the current situation of the country, comparing it with the pre-Arab Spring situation and discussing the successes and failures of the movement.
    • In the Bibliography, list the sources used.
  5. While the document is being written, the groups should start planning the presentation. It should be a condensed version of the document, including the most important and interesting points.
  6. The groups should rehearse the presentation before the final date.
  7. Each group will present to the class at the end of the month.

Deliverables
