However, despite their importance, cohesion elements are often neglected or misused. This can lead to misunderstandings and hinder the reader's comprehension. Therefore, in order to improve writing and reading skills, it is essential to understand and practice the use of these cohesion elements.

The ability to effectively use cohesion elements is vital in various real-life situations. From composing a simple email to writing an academic paper, writing professional reports, or participating in debates and discussions, the ability to express ideas clearly and coherently is a valued skill in diverse contexts. Furthermore, understanding and effectively using cohesion elements is also required in various assessments, such as the ENEM and other official exams.

Practical Activity

Title: "Building Bridges with Cohesion Elements"

Project Objective:

To deepen students' understanding of cohesion elements through reading, analyzing, and producing texts, encouraging teamwork, critical thinking, and effective communication.

Project Description:

The student group (3 to 5 people) will divide the work into three parts:

1. Text Reading and Analysis: In this step, students will choose an opinion piece from a widely circulated magazine or newspaper. The choice of article must be consensual within the group. The goal will be to identify and analyze how the cohesion elements are used in the text.

2. Text Production: Based on the analysis of the article, each student must produce an opinion piece on a controversial topic, using the cohesion elements identified in the previous step. The theme to be developed will be chosen jointly by the group.

3. Text Analysis and Revision: In this last step, groups exchange the texts produced and perform a detailed analysis, writing down observations and suggestions in the texts themselves. After this step, each student must revise and improve their text according to the group's suggestions.

Necessary materials:

• Opinion articles from magazines or newspapers
• Writing materials (computer, pens, sheets of paper, etc.)

Step by step:

1. Divide into groups of 3 to 5 students.

2. Choose the opinion article for analysis.

3. Read and analyze the article, identifying and writing down how the cohesion elements are used in the text.

4. Together, choose a controversial topic to be developed in the opinion pieces.

5. Each student must produce their opinion piece using the cohesion elements identified in the analysis of the article.

6. Exchange the produced texts between the groups and perform a critical analysis of each other.

7. Each student should improve their text based on the suggestions made by the group.

Project Deliverables and Connection with Activities:

At the end of the project, each group must produce a report containing:

1. Introduction: Description of the topic, its relevance, and application in the real world, and the objective of this project.

2. Development: Theoretical explanation about the cohesion elements, detailed description of the activities carried out (article analysis, text production, and critical analysis), methodology used, and discussion of the results.

3. Conclusions: Reflection on the learning obtained through the project, highlighting the main learning points and conclusions on the topic.

4. Bibliography: References to the materials consulted during the project.

In addition to the report, each student must submit the opinion piece produced, with the analysis and revision done by the group.
