Word Writing

Objectives (5 - 7 minutes)

  1. Develop students' writing skills, allowing them to identify and write everyday words correctly, using the learning of letters and sounds of words.
  2. Encourage students' participation and active involvement through practical and interactive activities that allow them to apply what they have learned about writing words.
  3. Promote students' confidence and enthusiasm for learning writing, creating a positive and encouraging classroom environment.

Secondary Objectives:

  1. Stimulate students' fine motor skills when writing words.
  2. Foster teamwork and collaboration among students during group activities.
  3. Develop students' concentration skills while performing writing activities.

Introduction (10 - 15 minutes)

  1. Review of Previous Content: The teacher starts the lesson by reminding students about the importance of letters and their sounds in forming words. A brief activity of associating pictures with corresponding words can be carried out, encouraging the participation of all students.

  2. Problem-Solving Situations: The teacher presents two situations familiar to the students. First, they can show a picture of an animal and ask how to spell the name of that animal. Then, they can mention an object in the classroom and ask the students how they think that word is spelled. The goal is to make students realize the importance of writing in everyday communication.

  3. Contextualization: The teacher explains to the students that writing is a very important tool we use every day to communicate. Examples of how we use writing in different situations, such as reading a book, writing a letter, making a shopping list, among others, can be given. The teacher can also show the importance of writing in daily life, for example, by reading traffic signs to know where we are and where we want to go.

  4. Capturing Students' Attention: To spark students' interest, the teacher can share two facts about writing. The first is that long ago, people did not know how to write and used drawings to communicate. These drawings are called hieroglyphs and were used by the ancient Egyptians. The second fact is that there are more than 6,000 languages in the world, and all of them use writing in some form to communicate. After sharing these facts, the teacher can ask the students if they know how many languages are spoken in Brazil and what the writing of these languages is like.

Development (20 - 25 minutes)

  1. Syllabic Dictation Activity (5 - 7 minutes):

    • The teacher divides the class into groups of five students and gives each group a sheet of paper and a pencil.
    • Next, the teacher says a word, for example, 'casa,' dividing it into syllables: 'ca-sa.'
    • The challenge for each group is that when the teacher says a syllable, one student from the group must write it correctly on the paper.
    • The first group to correctly write the complete word earns a point.
    • This activity helps reinforce the connection between oral language and writing, as well as developing students' fine motor skills.
  2. Word Memory Game (7 - 10 minutes):

    • The teacher prepares a set of cards with everyday words clearly written in uppercase and lowercase letters.
    • Students are divided into small groups.
    • The teacher spreads the word cards face down on a table.
    • One student from each group flips two cards. If the words written on the cards match, the student can keep the cards. Otherwise, the cards are turned face down again.
    • The game continues until all cards have been removed.
    • The student with the most cards at the end of the game is the winner.
    • This game helps students recognize words and practice writing.
  3. Creative Writing Activity (8 - 10 minutes):

    • The teacher asks students to choose an object in the classroom and describe it in writing.
    • They should think about how the word is spelled, how it sounds, and how it looks.
    • After writing the description, students can read it to the class, and the teacher can try to guess what the object is.
    • This activity stimulates students' creativity, helps them practice writing and vocabulary.

Feedback (10 - 12 minutes)

  1. Group Discussion (5 - 6 minutes):

    • The teacher gathers all students in a large circle to promote group discussion.
    • They ask students about their experiences during the activities. Which words were easier to write? Which ones were more difficult? Why?
    • The teacher also asks students to share the words they wrote during the creative writing activity and the descriptions they made.
    • During the discussion, the teacher can correct any writing errors, reinforcing the concepts learned.
  2. Theory Connection (2 - 3 minutes):

    • Next, the teacher connects the practical activities with the theory, reminding students about the importance of syllables in word formation and the need to observe and remember the correct letters to write a word.
  3. Final Reflection (3 - 4 minutes):

    • The teacher proposes that students reflect on what they learned in the lesson.
    • They ask two simple questions for students to think about the lesson content:
      1. What strategies did you use to write the words?
      2. What can you do to improve your word writing?
    • The teacher gives each student a minute to think about the answers and then asks some students to share their responses with the class.
    • This final reflection helps students consolidate their learning and identify strategies they can use to improve their writing skills.
  4. Closure (1 minute):

    • The teacher concludes the lesson by thanking everyone for their participation and reinforcing the importance of what was learned for daily communication.
    • They also announce that in the next lesson, there will be more practical writing activities and invite students to continue practicing at home.

Conclusion (5 - 7 minutes)

  1. Lesson Summary (2 - 3 minutes):

  3. Theory and Practice Connection (1 minute):

    • The teacher explains that today's lesson was structured to connect theory and practice, with students applying what they learned about writing words in practical and interactive activities.
