Emotional Warm-up Activity

Mindfulness: Focus on the Present

The Mindfulness activity is a practice that helps bring students' attention to the present moment. This promotes a state of calm and concentration, essential for learning. During the practice, students are guided to focus on their breathing and bodily sensations, helping them disconnect from external and internal distractions.

1. Ask students to sit comfortably in their chairs, with their feet firmly on the floor and their hands resting on their knees.

2. Instruct them to close their eyes or maintain a soft gaze on the floor if they prefer.

3. Begin by guiding students to pay attention to their breathing. Ask them to notice how the air enters and exits their bodies.

4. Guide students to pay attention to the physical sensations in their bodies, starting from their feet and slowly moving up to their heads. This may include the feeling of their feet touching the floor, the pressure of the chairs on their backs, or the feeling of relaxation in their shoulders.

5. If students' minds start to wander, gently remind them to focus back on their breathing.

6. Continue the exercise for about 5 minutes, encouraging students to maintain their attention on the present moment.

7. End the practice by asking students to slowly open their eyes and bring their attention back to the classroom.

Angles are present in our daily lives in various ways, from street corners to the edges of furniture in our homes.
