The purpose of this stage is to prepare students for a practical and in-depth exploration of the topic of Energy Matrices. By researching and sharing interesting facts, students activate their prior knowledge and connect with the theme in a meaningful way, creating an engaging starting point for deeper activities.

Warming Up

To start the class, explain to the students that energy matrices are sources of energy used to generate electricity and power the modern world. Highlight the diversity of these sources, such as solar, wind, electrical, and fossil fuels. Then, ask the students to use their phones to look up an interesting fact about any of these energy matrices. Encourage them to share these facts with the class.

3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of fossil fuels?

4. What do you think could happen if we continue to rely solely on fossil fuels?

Development

Duration: 70 - 80 minutes

The purpose of this stage is to allow students to apply the knowledge acquired in a practical and creative way, using modern digital tools. Through the proposed activities, they will be able to deeply explore the different energy matrices, collaborating in groups and employing research, communication, and technology skills.

Activity 1 - Energy Influencer 🚀

> Duration: 60 - 70 minutes

- Objective: Demonstrate the acquired knowledge about energy matrices in a creative and practical way, using modern digital tools.

- Description: Students will form groups, and each group will be a 'digital influencer' specialized in an energy matrix (solar, wind, electrical, or fossil fuels). Using fictitious social media, they will create posts, short videos, and infographics to 'teach' their followers about the benefits, disadvantages, and curiosities of their energy matrix. In the end, groups will present their productions to the class.

- Instructions:

  • Divide the class into groups of up to 5 students.

  • Assign each group a specific energy matrix (solar, wind, electrical, or fossil fuels).

  • Guide students to use their phones and computers to research more information about the assigned energy matrix.

  • Each group must create a series of contents for a fictitious social media platform, including posts, short videos (using apps like TikTok or Instagram Reels), and infographics. These contents should explain the benefits, disadvantages, and curiosities related to their energy matrix.

  • Groups will have 45 minutes to prepare their content.

  • In the last 15-20 minutes, each group should present their productions to the class, simulating the role of a digital influencer.

  • Encourage other students to ask questions and make comments after each presentation, promoting an interactive discussion.

Activity 2 - Mission: Energy of the Future 🌍

> Duration: 60 - 70 minutes

- Objective: Promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills while encouraging the practice of research and presentation skills.

- Description: Students will be divided into groups, and each group will be a fictitious team of scientists tasked with solving an energy problem in a futuristic city. They will have to create an action plan, choose the best energy matrix for the city, and justify their choices through a multimedia presentation.

- Instructions:

  • Divide the class into groups of up to 5 students.

  • Explain that each group represents a team of scientists who have been assigned the mission of solving an energy problem in a futuristic city.

  • Provide each group with a detailed fictitious scenario of a city with specific characteristics (e.g., coastal city, desert city, industrial metropolis, etc.).

  • Students must research and discuss which energy matrix would be most suitable to solve the city's energy problem and create an action plan.

  • In addition to the research, groups must prepare a multimedia presentation (using PowerPoint, Canva, or another digital tool) to justify their choices.

  • Give approximately 45 minutes for groups to research, discuss, and prepare their presentations.

  • In the last 15-20 minutes, organize the presentations and reserve time for questions and answers after each one.

Activity 3 - Creating an Energy Game 🎮
