The purpose of this stage of the Socioemotional Lesson Plan is to introduce students to the concept of flowcharts, highlighting the importance of these tools in problem-solving. Additionally, it aims to develop the skill of interpretation and graphical representation of problems, promoting a deeper and more practical understanding of the content to be addressed. This stage also aims to initiate the development of socioemotional competencies, such as self-awareness and social awareness, by encouraging students to recognize their own emotions and those of their peers during learning.

Main Goals

1. Interpret simple flowcharts, identifying essential elements such as geometric shapes and arrows.

2. Represent and solve problems that involve the position of cities and the roads that connect them through flowcharts.

Introduction

Duration: (15 - 20 minutes)

Emotional Warm-up Activity

Mindfulness Connection Moment

Mindfulness practice is a meditation technique that involves focusing attention on the present moment, helping to reduce stress and increase concentration. During the activity, students are guided to pay attention to their breathing and bodily sensations, allowing them to become more aware of their thoughts and feelings. This practice helps promote focus, presence, and concentration, which are essential for effective learning.

1. Ask students to sit comfortably in their chairs, keeping their backs straight and feet flat on the ground.

2. Request them to close their eyes and gently place their hands on their thighs.

3. Instruct students to focus on their breathing, inhaling deeply through their nose and exhaling slowly through their mouth.

4. Guide students to feel the air entering and leaving their lungs, noticing the movement of their abdomen and chest.

5. If students' minds begin to wander, ask them to gently bring their attention back to their breathing, without judgment.

6. Continue guiding attention to different parts of the body, starting with the feet and moving up to the head, noticing sensations in each part.

7. After a few minutes, ask students to slowly open their eyes and return their attention to the classroom, ready to begin the lesson with focus and calm.

They help to represent processes clearly and organized, facilitating decision-making and problem-solving. For example, by creating a flowchart to plan a trip, they can identify emotions like anxiety or excitement and learn to manage them when making informed and responsible decisions.

5. Process Block: Represented by a rectangle, describes a specific step or action in the process.

6. Decision Block: Represented by a diamond, indicates a point where a decision must be made, leading to different paths in the process.

7. Input/Output Block: Represented by a parallelogram, indicates the input or output of data in the process.

8. Arrows: Indicate the direction of the flow of the process.

10. Travel Planning: May include steps such as 'Choose Destination', 'Book Tickets', and 'Pack Bags', with decisions at points like 'Check Documents' (Yes/No).

11. Mathematical Problem Solving: May involve steps such as 'Identify Data', 'Choose Formula', and 'Calculate Result', with decisions at points like 'Check Errors' (Yes/No).

Socioemotional Feedback Activity

Creating a Flowchart to Plan a Trip

In this activity, students will create a flowchart to plan a fictional trip. They should consider all the necessary steps, from choosing the destination to preparing the bags, including possible decisions and alternatives.

1. Divide the class into small groups of 3-4 students.

2. Distribute paper and colored pens to each group.

3. Ask the groups to choose a fictional destination for the trip.

4. Guide the groups to list all the necessary steps to plan the trip, such as 'Choose Destination', 'Book Tickets', 'Check Documents', etc.

5. Instruct students to draw the corresponding blocks (Start/End, Process, Decision, Input/Output) and connect them with arrows, forming a complete flowchart.

6. Encourage the groups to discuss and decide together on the steps and decisions to include, promoting social skills and responsible decision-making.

7. After completing the flowchart, each group should present their work to the class, explaining the steps and decisions included.

Group Discussion

After the presentation of the flowcharts, start a group discussion using the RULER method:

Recognize: Ask students how they felt during the creation of the flowchart and when presenting to the class. They should identify emotions such as anxiety, excitement, or nervousness.

Understand: Discuss the causes of these emotions. For example, anxiety may arise from the fear of making mistakes, while excitement may come from creative freedom. Ask how these emotions impacted group work and decision-making.

Name: Encourage students to correctly name these emotions. Use a wide vocabulary to describe the different emotions felt.

Express: Guide students to express these emotions appropriately, sharing their experiences and feelings with the class in a respectful and constructive manner.

Regulate: Discuss strategies for regulating emotions during group activities. For example, breathing techniques to reduce anxiety or dividing tasks to avoid overload. Highlight the importance of supporting each other in the learning environment.

Emotional Reflection and Regulation

Suggest to students that they perform a written reflection or discussion format about the challenges faced during the creation and presentation of the flowcharts. Ask how they felt at different moments of the activity and how they managed their emotions. Request them to share strategies that worked well and areas where they could improve. This activity should be done in small groups to promote a safe and supportive environment, or individually, depending on the class dynamics.

Objective: The objective of this subsection is to encourage self-assessment and emotional regulation, helping students identify effective strategies for dealing with challenging situations. Closure and A Look Into The Future

The academic goal should be related to improvement in interpreting and creating flowcharts, such as practicing more problems involving flowcharts or helping a classmate understand the concept.
