> Duration: 60 - 70 minutes

- Objective: Apply knowledge about floor plans and aerial views in a practical and contextualized way, developing communication and video editing skills.

- Description: Students will create a vlog-style video, as if they were digital influencers, presenting a property (house or apartment) based on the provided floor plan and aerial view. They must explain each room, calculate and present the area/perimeter, and discuss the importance of the layout. The video will be edited and shared on the class's social media or a video-sharing platform.

- Instructions:

  • Divide the class into groups of up to 5 students.

  • Provide each group with a floor plan and an aerial view of a property.

  • Ask the students to use their phones to film a vlog-style video presenting the property. They must:

  • Introduce the property, mentioning the type (house or apartment) and the fictional location.

  • Explain each room using the floor plan and aerial view, calculating the area and perimeter of each.

  • Discuss the importance of the property's layout, relating it to practical and functional aspects (e.g., distribution of rooms, lighting).

  • Edit the video using editing apps available on their phone or computer.

  • Share the video on the agreed platform (class WhatsApp group, YouTube, Google Drive, etc.).

  • Watch the videos from other groups and leave constructive comments.

Activity 2 - 📐 Gamification: Real Estate Mission

> Duration: 60 - 70 minutes

- Objective: Encourage the practical application of concepts of areas and perimeters of floor plans in a playful and collaborative environment.

- Description: Students will transform the classroom into an 'escape room,' where they need to solve puzzles based on floor plans and aerial views to 'escape' the house. Each puzzle involves calculations of areas or perimeters of rooms, and the correct solution will lead them to the next clue.

- Instructions:

  • Divide the class into groups of up to 5 students.

  • Distribute a fictional floor plan and an aerial view of a house to each group.

  • Prepare a series of puzzles in advance, each associated with a calculation of area or perimeter of a room.

  • Explain the rules of the escape game: students must solve each puzzle to receive the next clue.

- Description: Students will use the game Minecraft to build a house or apartment following a provided floor plan and aerial view. They must digitally recreate each room, respecting the dimensions and calculating the corresponding area and perimeter.

- Instructions:

  • Divide the class into groups of up to 5 students.

  • Provide a floor plan and an aerial view of a house or apartment to each group.

  • Ask the students to use the game Minecraft (or an educational version of it) to digitally build the provided property.

  • Instruct the students to respect the original dimensions of the rooms, calculating and verifying the area and perimeter during the construction.

  • During the construction, students must take screenshots of different stages of construction and make notes of the calculations performed.

  • At the end, each group will present their construction to the class, showing the screenshots and explaining the calculations made.
