  • Foster awareness of the importance of prevention and proper treatment of bacterial diseases, emphasizing the relevance of biological knowledge for human health.

Introduction (10 - 12 minutes)

  1. Content Review: The teacher should start the lesson by reminding students of the main concepts already studied about microorganisms, focusing especially on their role in nature and their different types, such as viruses and fungi. This review is essential for them to understand the importance and uniqueness of bacteria.

  2. Problem-Solving Scenarios: To introduce the topic, the teacher can propose two situations to students that arouse their curiosity and stimulate discussion:

    • Imagine you are a scientist and need to develop a new antibiotic. What do you need to know about bacteria to create an effective medication?

Additionally, it is important to emphasize that the study of bacteria is fundamental for medicine, agriculture, and biotechnology, among other areas.

Development (20 - 25 minutes)

  1. Theory: What are Bacteria? (5 - 7 minutes)

    • The teacher should start by explaining that bacteria are the smallest living beings and belong to the Monera Kingdom, being unicellular and prokaryotic organisms (without a defined nucleus). It should be emphasized that they have various shapes, such as spherical, rod-shaped, and spiral.

    • It is important to explain that bacteria can be found in various habitats, such as soil, water, air, and the human body. Furthermore, it is crucial to highlight that they play a crucial role in various biological processes, such as decomposition and fermentation.

    • In this stage, the teacher should explain that bacteria can be classified in various ways, such as by their shape, cell wall structure, mode of nutrition, and response to oxygen.
