Objectives

Duration: (10 - 15 minutes)

The purpose of this stage is to present the specific objectives of the lesson to the students, guiding them on what will be learned and developed throughout the session. This introduction is crucial to establish a clear and directed understanding of the content, as well as to emotionally prepare the students for learning, promoting self-awareness and responsible decision-making as they engage in the proposed activities.

Main Goals

1. Identify and recognize the main textual resources, such as cohesion, coherence, and figures of speech.

2. Understand how to use these textual resources to create clear and effective messages.

Introduction

Duration: (15 - 20 minutes)

Emotional Warm-up Activity

Guided Meditation for Focus and Concentration

The chosen emotional warm-up activity is Guided Meditation. This practice is a technique that helps students focus on the present moment, reducing anxiety and emotionally preparing them for the lesson. Guided Meditation involves leading students through a series of instructions to relax the mind and body, promoting a state of calm and focus.

1. Ask students to sit comfortably in their chairs, with their feet on the ground and hands resting on their laps.

2. Ask them to close their eyes and take deep breaths, inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth.

3. Guide them to focus on their breathing, feeling the air entering and leaving their lungs, while you slowly count to four on each inhalation and exhalation.

4. Lead them to relax each part of their body, starting from the feet and slowly moving up to the head, suggesting they release any tension they encounter along the way.

5. After a few minutes of breathing and relaxation, ask them to visualize a tranquil and safe place, such as a beach or a flower-filled field.

6. Maintain the guided visualization for a few more minutes, describing details of the chosen environment, such as the sound of the waves or the scent of the flowers.

7. Gradually bring the students' attention back to the classroom, asking them to move their fingers and toes, and slowly open their eyes.

Content Contextualization

Textual resources such as cohesion, coherence, and figures of speech are essential tools in written and spoken communication. Imagine you are writing an important message to a friend, but if the sentences are not logically connected or if the chosen words do not convey exactly what you want to say, the message may be misinterpreted. Similarly, in a professional environment, clarity and effectiveness in communication can make the difference between the success and failure of a project. Understanding and correctly applying these textual resources not only improves communication skills but also helps develop socio-emotional skills such as empathy and the ability to understand others' perspectives. By learning to recognize and use these resources, students not only enhance their linguistic competencies but also become more effective and conscious communicators, able to express their emotions and ideas clearly and appropriately.

Development

Duration: (60 - 75 minutes)

Theoretical Framework

Duration: (20 - 25 minutes)

1. Cohesion: Cohesion is the connection between parts of a text. It is ensured by the correct use of elements that link sentences and paragraphs, such as conjunctions, pronouns, and adverbs. Examples: 'and', 'but', 'therefore', 'that', 'where'.

2. Coherence: Coherence is the logic and consistency of the text. It is the harmonious relationship between ideas, ensuring that they make sense together. A coherent text is one where the information is presented in an orderly and clear manner.

3. Figures of Speech: These are resources used to give emphasis, expressiveness, and beauty to the text. The main figures of speech include:

4. Metaphor: An implicit comparison between two different elements. Example: 'He is a lion on the field.'

5. Metonymy: Substituting one word for another that has a relationship of proximity. Example: 'We read the works of Machado de Assis.'

6. Antithesis: Opposition of ideas. Example: 'Love and hatred walk side by side.'

7. Hyperbole: Intentional exaggeration. Example: 'I'm dying of hunger.'

8. Euphemism: Softening an unpleasant idea. Example: 'He passed away.'

9. Irony: A statement contrary to what one wants to say. Example: 'What a beautiful job!' (when the job is poorly done).

10. Practical Examples: For each concept, provide practical examples that students can recognize in their daily lives. Show texts from newspapers, excerpts from books, or even social media messages that use these resources.

11. Analogies: Use analogies to facilitate comprehension. For example, compare cohesion to a chain where each link is a sentence or paragraph, and coherence to the flow of a river, where ideas flow in an orderly and natural manner.

Socioemotional Feedback Activity

Duration: (35 - 40 minutes)

Building Cohesive and Coherent Messages

In this activity, students will create a short text using the textual resources learned. They must ensure that the text is cohesive, coherent, and utilizes at least two figures of speech. After creating, students will exchange texts with each other for review and feedback.

1. Divide the class into pairs or groups of three.

2. Ask each group to create a text of 2-3 paragraphs using the concepts of cohesion, coherence, and figures of speech discussed.

3. After creation, each group must exchange their text with another group for review.

4. Each group should read the received text, identify the textual resources used, and provide constructive feedback on cohesion, coherence, and the use of figures of speech.

5. Ask groups to discuss the feedback received and make necessary revisions to their original text.

6. Conclude the activity by presenting some revised texts to the class.

Group Discussion

To guide the group discussion and the socio-emotional feedback, use the RULER method. Recognize: Start by asking students to recognize the emotions they felt when reading and reviewing their peers' texts. Understand: Encourage reflection on the causes and consequences of these emotions, such as the anxiety of sharing their work or the satisfaction of receiving positive feedback. Name: Help students correctly name these emotions, such as nervousness, pride, frustration, etc. Express: Promote appropriate expression of emotions, encouraging students to communicate their feelings assertively and respectfully. Regulate: Finally, discuss strategies to regulate these emotions, such as practicing empathy when giving feedback and the ability to accept criticism constructively. This approach not only reinforces communication skills but also strengthens students' socio-emotional competencies.

Conclusion

Duration: (15 - 20 minutes)

Emotional Reflection and Regulation

Suggest that students write a paragraph about the challenges faced during the creation and review of texts. Alternatively, promote a group discussion where each student can share their experiences and emotions encountered during the activity. Ask students to reflect on how they dealt with these emotions and which strategies they used to overcome difficulties.

Objective: The objective of this activity is to encourage self-assessment and emotional regulation among students. By reflecting on the challenges faced and the emotions felt, students can identify effective strategies to deal with challenging situations in the future. This practice promotes self-awareness, self-control, and responsible decision-making, allowing students to develop important socio-emotional skills for academic and personal success.

Closure and A Look Into The Future

To conclude the lesson, the teacher can ask students to set personal and academic goals related to the content learned. For example, improving cohesion and coherence in their future writings or using figures of speech more effectively. Ask students to write down these goals and share them with the class or in small groups, encouraging commitment and mutual support.

Possible Goal Ideas:

1. Improve cohesion in future writings.

2. Apply figures of speech more effectively.

3. Develop the ability to give and receive constructive feedback.

4. Enhance clarity and coherence in written and oral communications.

5. Practice empathy when reviewing peers' work. Objective: The objective of this subsection is to strengthen students' autonomy and the practical application of learning. By setting personal and academic goals, students are encouraged to continue developing their linguistic and socio-emotional skills outside the classroom. This practice promotes responsibility and commitment to their own growth, preparing them to face future challenges with confidence.
