Furthermore, this stage aims to develop the socio-emotional skills of students, such as self-awareness and responsible decision-making, as they understand the complexities and emotions involved in the discussion about nuclear energy.

2. Evaluate the positive impacts of nuclear energy on electricity generation, highlighting its efficiency and sustainability.

Emotional Warm-up Activity

Guided Meditation for Focus and Concentration

The chosen emotional warm-up activity is Guided Meditation. This practice helps to promote students' focus, presence, and concentration. Guided meditation involves guiding the students through a relaxation and visualization process that allows them to center their minds and prepare emotionally for the lesson.

1. Ask students to sit comfortably in their chairs, with their feet flat on the floor and their hands resting on their knees.

2. Instruct them to close their eyes and begin to pay attention to their breathing, inhaling deeply through their nose and exhaling slowly through their mouth.

3. Guide the students to take three deep breaths, paying attention to the movement of the air entering and leaving their lungs.

4. Begin guiding them through a visualization, asking them to imagine a peaceful and safe place where they feel relaxed and at ease.

5. Describe the details of this place, such as the colors, sounds, and scents, encouraging students to fully connect with this image in their minds.

6. After a few minutes of visualization, ask the students to start bringing their attention back to the classroom environment, slowly moving their fingers and toes.

7. Conclude the activity by asking them to slowly open their eyes and take a final deep breath, bringing the feeling of calm and focus to the present.

5. Nuclear Fusion:

6. Nuclear fusion is the process of combining light nuclei, such as those of hydrogen, to form a heavier nucleus. This process releases even more energy than fission, but it is currently difficult to control for practical use.

8. The main producers of nuclear energy are the United States, France, China, and Russia. Each of these countries has a significant number of operational nuclear reactors.

9. Benefits of Nuclear Energy:

1. Divide the class into two groups: one group will defend the benefits of nuclear energy and the other group will address the risks and challenges.

2. Each group will have 10 minutes to discuss and prepare their arguments, using the theoretical content and additional research if necessary.

3. After preparation, each group will have 5 minutes to present their arguments to the rest of the class.

To apply the RULER method, start by recognizing the emotions involved in the discussion (Recognize). Ask students to reflect on how they felt defending or questioning nuclear energy. Then, help them understand the causes of these emotions (Understand), discussing how controversial information can generate feelings of fear, hope, or responsibility.

Correctly name the emotions (Label) during the discussion, helping students identify feelings such as anxiety, enthusiasm, or concern. Encourage them to express these emotions appropriately (Express), fostering an environment of respect and mutual understanding. Finally, help students regulate their emotions (Regulate) by teaching emotional control techniques, such as deep breathing or pausing before responding to an argument.
