Activity Suggestions

It is recommended that only one of the suggested activities be carried out

Activity 1 - Dance and Social Media: Creating a Viral Video! 📹

> Duration: 60 to 70 minutes

- Objective: Allow students to use digital platforms to disseminate knowledge about traditional dances, developing skills in research, planning, collaboration, and digital content production.

- Description: Students will create a short video for social media (TikTok, Instagram Reels), where they should present a traditional Brazilian or world dance. The video should include a brief introduction about the chosen dance, its main movements, and its cultural importance, followed by a demonstration of the movements. The goal is for the video to be informative and engaging, capable of attracting the attention of viewers on social media.

- Instructions:

  • Divide the class into groups of up to 5 students.

  • Each group must choose a traditional Brazilian or world dance that has not yet been chosen by another group.

  • Research more details about the chosen dance, using smartphones or computers with internet access.

  • Plan the video: define who will do the introduction, who will demonstrate the movements, and how transitions will be made.

  • Record the video using a smartphone. The introduction should include information about the origin of the dance, its main movements, and its cultural relevance.

  • Edit the video using free video editing apps (such as InShot or CapCut), adding subtitles and appropriate music.

  • Each group must post the video on a social media platform and share the link with the class and the teacher.

Activity 2 - Interactive Dance Map Around the World 🌍

> Duration: 60 to 70 minutes

- Objective: Provide a deeper understanding of the diversity of dances around the world and their cultural connections, while developing research, organization, and digital tool usage skills.

- Description: In this activity, students will use digital tools to create an online interactive map that identifies and explains the traditional dances of different regions of Brazil and the world. The map should include texts, images, and videos that detail each dance, its characteristics, and the associated culture.

- Instructions:

  • Divide the class into groups of up to 5 students.

  • Each group must choose a region of Brazil or the world to research its traditional dances.

  • Use computers or smartphones to research detailed information about the chosen dance, including its history, main movements, and the associated culture.

  • Create a shared document (such as a Google Docs) to organize the information found.

  • Access a tool for creating interactive maps, such as Google My Maps.

  • Each group must add a marker on the map corresponding to the researched region and include a descriptive text, images, and links to demonstration videos.

  • When all groups have completed their parts, share the interactive map with the class and the teacher.

Activity 3 - Digital Memory Game: Dance Movements 🎮

> Duration: 60 to 70 minutes

- Objective: Reinforce learning about the movements and characteristics of traditional dances in a playful and interactive way, promoting engagement through gamification.

- Description: Students will create a digital memory game using a free online platform (such as Flippity). The game will consist of matching images or short videos of traditional dance movements with their respective names or descriptions. Through this activity, students will be able to review and solidify their knowledge in a fun and interactive way.

  • Share the link of the created game with the class and the teacher.

  • All groups must play the versions created by their peers, checking if they can correctly associate the movements with their descriptions.

Feedback

Duration: 20 to 25 minutes

📜 Purpose: This stage aims to consolidate students' learning, promoting reflection on the research and creation process, in addition to strengthening communication and collaboration skills. The group discussion and 360° feedback allow students to evaluate their own contributions and receive valuable insights from their peers, enriching the educational experience even further.

Group Discussion

📢 Group Discussion: Promote a group discussion with all students, where they share what they learned while conducting the activities and their conclusions. Use the following outline to introduce the discussion:

  1. Introduction: Ask each group to briefly summarize the dance they chose, explaining its main characteristics, movements, and cultural importance.
  2. Creative Process: Encourage students to describe how the process of creating the video or the interactive map went, highlighting the challenges and solutions encountered during development.
  3. Experience: Ask students how their experience was working in a team and using digital tools to learn about traditional dances.

Reflections

1. 🌍 What were the biggest difficulties you encountered while researching and creating videos or interactive maps? How did you overcome them? 2. 💡 How did the use of social media and digital tools influence your learning about traditional dances? 3. 🤔 In what way did team collaboration impact the final results of the activities?

360° Feedback

🗣️ 360° Feedback: Instruct students to conduct a 360° feedback stage, where each student should receive feedback from the other members of the group about their contribution during the activities. Guide the class to keep feedback constructive and respectful, encouraging them to highlight positive aspects and suggestions for improvement. You can suggest using an online form (like Google Forms) to facilitate the collection and organization of feedback.
