Introduction

In our learning adventure, we will get to know two types of energy: renewable energy and non-renewable energy. Renewable energy comes from natural sources, such as the sun, wind, water, and plants, which never run out. Non-renewable energy, on the other hand, comes from sources that deplete over time, such as oil, coal, and natural gas.

Did you know that the way we produce and consume energy directly affects our planet? Some types of energy, like non-renewable ones, can cause a lot of harm to the environment, such as air and soil pollution. Renewable energies, on the other hand, are cleaner and more sustainable, meaning they do not cause as many negative impacts on our planet.

Now, you must be wondering: what does innovation have to do with all of this, right? Innovation is precisely in the way we are discovering new ways to produce and use energy. For example, solar energy, which comes from the sun, is a form of renewable energy and has become increasingly popular thanks to technological innovations.

Practical Activity

Activity Title: "The Journey of Energy"

Project Objective:

This project aims to understand and differentiate between types of energy (renewable and non-renewable), comprehend the importance of innovation in energy production, and develop socio-emotional skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.

Project Description:

In this activity, you will divide into groups and become true energy explorers! Each group will be responsible for researching and presenting a type of energy (solar, wind, hydroelectric, oil, coal, or natural gas), emphasizing whether it is renewable or non-renewable, how it is produced, how it is used in our daily lives, what the impacts on the environment are, and, most importantly, how innovation has influenced this form of energy.

Necessary Materials:

• Internet access for research
• Textbooks or encyclopedias
• Cardboards/color paper
• Colorful pens
• Old magazines
• Blunt scissors
• Glue

Step by Step:

1. Group Formation: Students will be divided into 6 groups, each group being assigned a type of energy to research.

2. Research and Poster Creation: Each group should research the assigned energy type using the internet, books, and other sources of information. Then, they should create a colorful poster that explains what they have learned. The poster should contain information about the type of energy, whether it is renewable or non-renewable, how it is produced, how it is used in our daily lives, what the impacts on the environment are, and finally, how innovation has influenced this form of energy.

3. Scene Creation: Now, the most fun part! In addition to the poster, each group should create a scene that represents the researched energy. They can use magazine cutouts, drawings, modeling clay, whatever creativity allows! The scene should also represent the influence of innovation on this form of energy.

4. Presentation: Finally, each group will present their poster and scene to the class. During the presentation, they should explain what they researched, show what they created, and answer their classmates' questions.

5. Exhibition: The Journey of Energy: At the end, the posters will be displayed around the room, forming a "Journey of Energy". This way, everyone can learn about the different types of energy and how innovation has influenced their production and use.

Delivery Format:

Groups must deliver the created poster and scene, in addition to making the presentation to the class. The poster and scene will be evaluated for the quality of information, creativity in presentation, and clarity in communication. The oral presentation will be evaluated for fluency in speech, the ability to explain the topic, and to answer classmates' questions.
