Contextualization
Art, in its various forms, has been a vital expression of humanity for thousands of years. Through art, we can explore emotions, ideas, and events, both historical and contemporary. In this project, we will delve into visual art and its creative processes.
Artistic production is based on processes that go far beyond simple creation. Different types of art follow different processes. For example, a painter may start with sketches to then develop a final work, while a sculptor may start by imagining a shape and then discovering it through the removal of material in a block of stone or wood.
In the contemporary world, visual art has also evolved to include digital forms. Furthermore, the development of visual art in the school environment highlights the importance of individual and collective expression, self-esteem development, creativity, and critical thinking.
Art plays an essential role in a variety of sectors in our society. It can be used as a means of communication, expression of ideas and feelings, historical record, and even as therapy. Entertainment sector companies, such as cinema and video games, for example, heavily rely on visual artists to create the visual content we see.
Moreover, many advertising and marketing campaigns also rely on visual art to be created and to effectively convey their messages. Finally, art is also a form of personal expression that helps us in self-awareness and in the development of socio-emotional skills.

Practical Activity
Activity Title: "The Creative Journey"
Project Objective
The objective of this project is to provide students with a practical experience of artistic creation processes, allowing them to explore different paths and techniques used in visual art.
Detailed Project Description
Students, divided into groups of 3 to 5, will experience the artistic creation process from the initial conception to the finalization of the work. Each group member will be responsible for a part of the process, and everyone must collaborate and discuss their ideas to create a collective work.
Groups will have the freedom to choose the artistic medium they would like to explore (painting, sculpture, digital art, etc). They will be encouraged to explore different techniques and artistic styles to create a truly unique work.
The process for each group may be different, but all must follow a basic procedure of planning, execution, review, and finalization.
Necessary Materials
- Drawing and painting materials (colored pencils, markers, watercolors, brushes, paper)
- Sculpture materials if necessary (clay, sculpture tools)
- Computers or tablets for digital art
Detailed Step-by-Step
-
Research and Planning (1 hour): Each group must research different artistic styles and techniques and decide which ones they would like to explore. After deciding, each group member must be in charge of a part of the research and present their findings to the group.
-
Sketch and Design (30 minutes - 1 hour): After the research, each group must sketch a design for their artwork. This may vary depending on the chosen medium, but each group member must have an active role in creating this design.
-
Execution (1-2 hours): With the sketch finalized, the groups must start the execution phase. They must follow the design they created and work together to produce the artwork.
-
Review and Finalization (30 minutes - 1 hour): After execution, the groups must review their work and make any necessary adjustments to finalize it.
After completing the practical part of the project, each group must prepare a report in which:
-
Introduction: The group must contextualize the theme, its relevance and real-world application, as well as the objective of this project.
-
Development: Here, the group must explain the theory behind the artistic creation process, explain the activity in detail, indicate the methodology used, and present the artwork they produced.
-
Conclusions: The group must conclude the work by summarizing its main points, explaining the learnings obtained, and drawing conclusions about the project.
-
Bibliography: The group must indicate the sources they relied on to carry out the project, such as books, websites, videos, etc.
