Welcome to our project on the vocabulary of 'Places and Family' in Spanish. Learning a new language can be a challenge, but at the same time, it is an opportunity to explore other cultures, ways of thinking, and seeing the world. The Spanish language, with over 460 million native speakers in more than 20 countries, is a powerful tool for communication and intercultural understanding.
The vocabulary we will be exploring in this project - places and family - is fundamental for everyday communication. Whether you need to ask for directions or describe your family to someone, using the right words is crucial to be understood and to form a connection with others. In this sense, the project goes beyond just memorizing words: we will explore how they are used in their cultural contexts.
This project is designed to be challenging, but also fun and engaging. We want to encourage collaboration and creativity from everyone, while also enhancing your ability to communicate in Spanish. In addition to the linguistic aspect, we also emphasize teamwork, time management, problem-solving, and creative thinking - all valuable skills not only for success in school but also in your future careers.
The Spanish language has a rich history and culture that goes far beyond the classroom. For example, many words in Spanish have origins in various cultures, including indigenous, African, and Arabic. By learning this vocabulary, you will not only be adding words to your lexicon but also exploring the rich cultural tapestry that shapes the Spanish language.

Practical Activity
Activity Title: 'From Home to the World: A Tourist Guide in Spanish'
Project Objective
Students will use the vocabulary of places and family to create a fictional tourist guide for a Hispanic city of their choice, presenting their family as the protagonists of this adventure.
Detailed Project Description
Groups will consist of 3 to 5 students and will have one week to complete the project. The idea is for each group to create an engaging, fun, and information-filled story in Spanish, using both the vocabulary of places and family.
Required Materials
- Computer or paper for writing the story.
- Spanish dictionary or online resources for vocabulary reference.
- Creative materials for illustrations (optional).
Step by Step

Group Formation: Students should organize themselves into groups of 3 to 5 people.

Choice of Hispanic City: Each group should choose a Hispanic city to be the setting of their story.

Creation of the Family: Students should create a fictional family that will be the protagonist of their story. In this step, attention should be paid to the use of family vocabulary in Spanish.

Story Development: Each group should write a story where the family takes a tour of the chosen city, using the vocabulary of places. The story should be creative and must include at least 10 different locations (tourist spots, restaurants, hotels, etc.) and 10 family members.

Revision: Groups should review the story, correct errors, and polish the writing.

Report Elaboration: Finally, each group should write a report on the project. The report should explain how the group created the story, the challenges encountered, how the vocabulary of places and family was used, and the group's learnings.
Project Delivery
The project consists of two parts:

The Tourist Guide: The story in Spanish that uses the vocabulary of places and family.

The Report in Portuguese: The report should be well-structured and should follow the format of:
- Introduction: Contextualization of the theme (vocabulary of places and family in Spanish), its relevance and real-world application (for example, travel, communication with native speakers, etc.), and the objective of this project.
- Development: Detailed description of the methodology used for creating the story and the practical application of theoretical concepts (for example, how the vocabulary was incorporated into the story, how the characters were developed, which locations were chosen and why). Additionally, students should discuss the results obtained (i.e., the final story and the interaction among team members).
- Conclusions: Reflection on the learnings obtained, the difficulties encountered, how problems were solved, and the conclusions about the project.
- Bibliography: Indication of the research sources used for the project (books, web pages, videos, etc.).
Both documents should be submitted on the predetermined date.
