This project aims to specifically explore the nomenclature of nitro compounds, one of the most crucial aspects to understand and communicate about these substances in the context of chemistry.
In organic chemistry, nomenclature is the way we name organic compounds, and there are specific rules for it. These rules were established by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). Correct nomenclature is essential to ensure that all chemists, regardless of their language or location, are talking about the same substance. Without a nomenclature system, it would be very difficult for chemists to communicate about their research and findings.
Nitro compounds are of great significance not only for chemistry but also have broad applications in industry and science. For example, many medications contain nitro compounds, such as nitroglycerin, which is used to treat heart conditions. Additionally, nitro compounds are also used in the production of dyes and explosives. Thus, understanding nitro compounds and their nomenclature is fundamental for chemistry students.

Project Objective:
This project aims to provide a practical and in-depth understanding of the nomenclature of nitro compounds. Teams will be tasked with creating a bank of questions and answers about the nomenclature of nitro compounds.
Detailed Project Description:
The practical activity will be divided into two main parts:

Research and Creation of the Question Bank: Each group will research and create a bank of 30 questions and answers on the nomenclature of nitro compounds. The questions should vary in difficulty and should cover at least two key theoretical concepts.

Knowledge Challenge: The groups will exchange their question banks and answer the questions formulated by another team. Each team will be tasked with providing the answers and justifying them based on their research and studies.
Required Materials:
- Access to a computer with internet for research.
- Software for creating the question bank, such as Google Docs, Microsoft Word, etc.
- Reference materials suggested in the introduction or others of their own choice.
Detailed Step-by-Step:
- Form groups of 3 to 5 students.
- Each group should research nitro compounds and their nomenclature, using the suggested reference materials or any other materials of their choice.
- After the research, each group should create a bank of 30 questions and answers, which should include at least two key theoretical concepts.
- The groups should exchange their question banks and will have a period to answer the questions from the other team.
- Each answer should be justified based on the research conducted.
- At the end of the period, the groups should share their answers and compare them with the original answers from the question bank. Discuss any differences, if any.
Project Deliverables and Written Report:
Upon completion of the practical activity, students should produce two deliverables:

Question and Answer Bank: This document should include all the questions created by the group, as well as the correct answers and the justification for each. It should also clearly identify the key theoretical concepts covered by the questions.

Project Report: Each group should write a report in the form of a document. This report should address the following topics:
i. Introduction: Contextualization of the theme "naming of nitro compounds," the relevance in the real world, and the objective of the project carried out.
ii. Development: Detailed description of the work done, including research, creation of the question bank, and execution of the Knowledge Challenge. There should be a discussion of the methodology used, key theoretical concepts, main questions and answers, and any difficulties encountered and how they were overcome.
iii. Conclusions: Discussion of how the activity helped enhance students' understanding of nitro compounds and their nomenclature, as well as what skills were developed through the project. Any additional observations and conclusions drawn from the project should also be mentioned.
iv. Bibliography: All sources used in the research for creating the question and answer bank should be listed here.
