The "Present Subjunctive" in Spanish is a verbal form that expresses an action that is in the future, but has not yet happened, differing greatly from the way we use the subjunctive in Portuguese. The subjunctive is a verbal mood that expresses various states of mind, including: doubt, possibility, necessity, desire, condition, probability, among others. It is important to master this verb tense, as it is very common in everyday Spanish.

Grammar, by itself, may seem like a tedious and meaningless study. But what if we could teach Spanish in a way that goes beyond just memorizing rules, but rather, understanding and applying in a more realistic and engaging way? Imagine a project where they can interact, debate, conduct research, and, above all, learn in a fun and contextualized way. That is exactly what our project is based on: a playful and collaborative approach to studying the Present Subjunctive.

Our language is part of our identity, it represents who we are, where we come from, and how we see the world. Studying the Spanish language may seem like a complicated task, especially with the existence of verb tenses different from those we are used to in Portuguese. However, it is essential to understand that the subjunctive is an intrinsic part of the cultural and social expression of Spanish speakers. Understanding and correctly applying it is a crucial step towards fluency in the Spanish language.

Studying the present subjunctive is also an excellent opportunity to discuss the influence of Hispanic culture in the world, especially in Latin America. Language is a way of cultural expression, therefore, by studying Spanish, we will also better understand the cultural particularities of Hispanic countries, and how they influence our daily lives.

Atividade Prática: "Subjunctive Script - A Journey through Verb Tenses"

Project Objective

This project aims to deepen students' understanding of the use of the "present subjunctive" in Spanish, through the development of an original theater script that demonstrates practical situations using this verb tense. In addition, the activity seeks to foster collaboration, creative thinking, and problem-solving in teams, essential skills for the 21st century.

Project Description

Students, divided into groups of 3 to 5 members, must create a script for a play entirely in Spanish, on a theme of their choice, setting, and characters. The story should be developed in a way that can demonstrate the use of the present subjunctive in various situations. In addition, the script should present the structure of a dramatic text (exposition, complication, climax, and resolution).

Each group should conduct research on Hispanic culture and incorporate cultural elements into the script, in order to deepen their understanding of the intrinsic relationship between language and culture.

To complement the work, each group should note all their findings and reflections in a logbook. In the end, the group should produce a complete project report, including: Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography used.

Necessary Materials

1. Computers or laptops with internet access for research and script writing.
2. Notebook for the logbook.
3. Books and materials suggested in the resources section for study.

Step by Step

1. Group Formation: The teacher should form groups of 3 to 5 students.

2. Theme Selection: Each group should choose a theme for the play. The theme must be approved by the teacher and should allow the incorporation of elements of the present subjunctive and Hispanic culture.

3. Research and Study: Groups should research the present subjunctive and the chosen theme, using the suggested resources and any other reliable sources.

4. Script Creation: Each group should write a theater script, using the present subjunctive in various situations.

5. Logbook: Throughout the process, students should keep a logbook, noting their findings, doubts, challenges, and solutions.

6. Review and Improvement: Groups should review and improve the scripts, based on feedback from the teacher and peers.

7. Final Report: Each group should produce a final project report, highlighting the learning experience, the main applications of the present subjunctive observed, the cultural connections identified, and the challenges encountered.

Project Deliverables

Upon completing the project, each group should deliver:

1. Theater Script: An original theater script entirely in Spanish that uses various situations of the present subjunctive.

2. Logbook: A logbook documenting the entire research process, script creation, and reflections on the learning.

3. Final Report: A structured and complete report, including: Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography used.

The introduction of the report should contextualize the theme, its relevance, and real-world application, as well as the objective of this project. In the development, students should explain the theory of the present subjunctive, describe the activity in detail, indicate the methodology used, and present the results obtained. In the conclusion, students should summarize the main points, explain the learnings obtained, and draw conclusions about the project. Finally, in the bibliography, students should indicate the sources used for the work.
