Adolescence is a crucial phase where many transformations occur in our bodies, including sexual and reproductive maturation, also known as puberty.

Finally, there are social and health aspects associated with human reproduction, such as contraceptive methods, early pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), among others, which are important for building a healthy and responsible sexual life.

Human reproduction, besides being an essential part of human biology, has direct and profound implications in our society. Understanding this theme allows students to be aware of their own bodies, their transformations, and their care. Furthermore, this understanding is fundamental for making informed decisions about their health and well-being.

More specifically, knowledge about contraceptive methods and STDs is crucial to prevent unwanted pregnancies and disease transmission, which are relevant public health issues in our society. In addition, exploring this theme allows for an open and enlightening conversation about sexuality, breaking taboos and strengthening concepts of consent, respect, and responsibility regarding sexual life.

Practical Activity - 'Deciphering Human Reproduction'

Activity Objective

Choose an aspect of human reproduction (male or female reproductive system, fertilization, contraceptive methods, or STDs), research and learn it deeply, and prepare a creative and informative presentation for classmates.

Detailed Activity Description

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 people. Each group will have one week to prepare a 15-20 minute presentation on the topic they chose.

Presentations should include:

• An explanation of the biological functions involved.
• Illustrations or diagrams to help visualize the process.
• Discussion of social or health-related issues (if applicable).
• Creation of an infographic or informative brochure to distribute to classmates.

Activity Step-by-Step

1. Divide students into groups.
2. Each group chooses or is assigned a topic.
3. Groups should divide tasks among themselves, such as research, infographic design, presentation preparation, etc.
4. Students conduct research to gain knowledge about the chosen topic.
5. After the research, students should prepare a 15-20 minute presentation on the subject.
6. In addition to the presentation, students should create an infographic or informative brochure to distribute to classmates and teachers.
7. Groups present their topic to the class and distribute their informative materials.
8. After all presentations, there is a question and answer session where students can ask other groups about their topics.
