Project Objective:

Explore the seasons of the year through a multidisciplinary perspective with focuses on Sciences (Astronomy and Biology) and Geography, deepening the understanding of the astronomical phenomenon and its influence on people's lives and the natural environment. This project aims to create a multimedia presentation and a detailed report based on the research and experiences carried out during the project.

Detailed Project Description:

The activity will be carried out in groups of 3 to 5 students and should be developed over several weeks, with a total estimated time of 15 hours per student. Students will delve into the understanding of the seasons of the year, their impact on life on Earth, and how different cultures around the world interpret and celebrate the seasons.

The project will be divided into four phases, each corresponding to a season of the year. Each phase involves research, experimentation, and reflection.

Required Materials:

1. Internet access for research.
2. Drawing and painting materials (optional).
3. Access to an outdoor space for practical activities.

Detailed Step-by-Step for Carrying Out the Activity:

Spring Phase:

Research and discuss the astronomical and climatic characteristics of spring in the hemisphere where you live. How does this affect local wildlife and plants?

Investigate and discuss how different cultures around the world celebrate spring. Create a visual presentation (drawing, painting, collage, etc.) representing some element of how a specific culture celebrates spring.

Summer Phase:

Similar to Phase 1, explore the astronomical and climatic characteristics of summer. How do high temperatures affect local life? What precautions should people take during the summer?

Investigate summer celebrations in different cultures. Create a visual presentation representing some element of these celebrations.

Autumn Phase:

Repeat the process for autumn, observing the climatic changes that occur during this season. How do these changes affect wildlife and vegetation?

Explore autumn celebrations in different cultures around the world. Create a visual presentation to represent some element of these celebrations.

Winter Phase:

Finally, explore the characteristics of winter. How does life adapt to survive the cold of winter?

Investigate winter traditions and celebrations around the world. Create a visual representation of some element of these celebrations.

Project Deliverables:

• A multimedia presentation: Each group will present a slide-show with text, graphics, and images representing their discoveries, observations, and experiences for each season of the year.

• Written report: In addition to the presentation, each group must write a detailed report following the indicated topics: Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography used. The introduction should contextualize the theme, its relevance and real-world application as well as the objective of this project. The development should explain the theory behind the theme, detail the activity, indicate the methodology used, and present and discuss the results obtained. The conclusion should summarize the main points, the learnings obtained, and the conclusions drawn from the project. Finally, in the bibliography, the student should indicate the sources they relied on to work on the project such as books, web pages, videos, etc.

Students should strive to connect their practical work in the activity in each phase with the aspects addressed in the preparation of the report. For example, the description of the impact of the seasons on wildlife and local plants can be supported by the observations and experiences lived during the activity.
