Assumptions: This Active Lesson Plan assumes: a 100-minute class, prior student study with both the Book and the start of Project development, and that only one activity (among the three suggested) will be chosen to be conducted during the class, as each activity is designed to take up a significant portion of the available time.

In addition, problem situations encourage students to think critically and apply their knowledge in a practical and creative way.

1. Imagine that the school wants to decorate the courtyard for a community party. How could you use recyclable materials to create large artistic panels that represent the diversity of the school community?

2. Think of a story you would like to tell through drawings. What colors, shapes, and images would be important for others to understand the message without needing a verbal explanation?

Contextualization

Art is present in all aspects of life, from home decor to major museum pieces. In the community, art can be a powerful tool for expressing identity, memories, and values. The Development stage is designed to allow students to practically and collaboratively apply the concepts studied at home. Through the proposed activities, students will explore artistic creation using different materials and techniques, fostering individual and collective expression. This approach not only solidifies their knowledge of the visual arts creation process but also encourages cooperation and appreciation of the diversity of ideas and artistic styles in the school community.

Activity 1 - Art with Recyclable Materials

- Objective: Promote environmental awareness and creativity through the reuse of discarded materials, as well as strengthen cooperation and teamwork.

- Description: In this activity, students will create a collective work of art using only recyclable materials. The proposal is for them to reuse items such as plastic bottles, newspapers, and other disposables to build a sculpture or installation representing the school community.

- Instructions:

• Divide the class into groups of up to 5 students.

• Each group receives a variety of recyclable materials.

• Discuss as a group what they would like to represent in the artwork and sketch a plan.

• Construct the sculpture or installation according to the predetermined plan.

• At the end, each group will present their work to the class, explaining the inspiration and creation process.

Activity 2 - Painting Without Borders

> Duration: (60 - 70 minutes)

- Objective: Explore individual and collective expression through painting, promoting integration and appreciation of diverse artistic styles.

- Description: Students will work on a large sheet of craft paper, where they can paint freely, without restrictions. The goal is for each student to add their contribution to the panel, creating a collective artwork that reflects the diversity of styles and ideas in the class.

- Instructions:

• Prepare a large sheet of craft paper on the floor of the room, protecting the surrounding environment.

• Each student receives a set of paints and brushes.

• Start painting on the panel, without concerns about limits or specific rules.

• Rotate students every 5-10 minutes so that everyone can contribute.

• At the end, discuss as a group what each one saw in the final painting and how the different contributions complement each other.

Activity 3 - Shadow Theater

> Duration: (60 - 70 minutes)

- Objective: Stimulate creativity and artistic expression through a traditional art form while developing storytelling and group coordination skills.

- Description: Students will create a small shadow theater piece that tells a story from their community. Using materials such as cardboard, sticks, and a light source, they will project shadows that represent elements of the narrative.

Then, each group can present the created artwork, discussing the meaning behind their artistic choices and how these represent the school community.
