Objectives

Duration: (10 - 15 minutes)

The purpose of this stage is to introduce students to the concept of ludicism in art, highlighting its relevance to the learning process. Additionally, this stage aims to prepare students to identify and understand the emotions associated with playful activities, fostering a more engaging and emotionally aware learning environment.

Main Goals

1. Present the concept of ludicism in art and its importance for learning.

2. Develop students' ability to recognize and understand the emotions involved in playful activities.

Introduction

Duration: (15 - 20 minutes)

Emotional Warm-up Activity

Guided Meditation for Focus and Presence

The chosen emotional warm-up activity is Guided Meditation. Guided meditation is a relaxation technique where students are led to a state of calm and focus through verbal instructions. This practice promotes being present in the moment, concentration, and emotional balance, preparing students for more effective and engaged learning.

1. Ask students to sit comfortably in their chairs, with their feet on the floor and their hands resting on their laps.

2. Instruct students to gently close their eyes if they feel comfortable, or to focus their gaze on a point ahead.

3. Guide students to begin breathing deeply, inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth, slowly and controlled.

4. Start guiding them verbally, asking them to bring their attention to their breath, feeling the air entering and leaving their lungs.

5. Suggest that with each exhalation, students release any tension or worry, focusing only on the present moment.

6. After a few minutes, ask students to imagine a peaceful and safe place where they feel calm and happy. Give them time to explore this place in their minds.

7. Slowly, bring students back to the classroom environment, asking them to move the fingers of their hands and feet, and finally, to open their eyes when they feel ready.

8. Allow a moment for students to share how they feel after the meditation, if they wish.

Content Contextualization

Art has the power to transform, teach, and connect people. When we introduce the playful element into artistic activities, such as games and play, we are not only making learning more enjoyable but also fostering an environment where creativity and emotions can flourish. Children, in particular, learn better when they are having fun and feel emotionally safe. 🖌️

Through ludicism in art, students can explore different emotions and learn to express these feelings in a healthy way. Additionally, by working together in playful activities, they develop important social skills such as cooperation, empathy, and respect for others' emotions. By connecting these experiences with theory, we create a more holistic and meaningful learning space. 🎨

Development

Duration: (60 - 75 minutes)

Theoretical Framework

Duration: (20 - 25 minutes)

1. Concept of Ludicism in Art: Explain that ludicism refers to the use of playful activities, such as games and play, as pedagogical tools. Emphasize that in art, this can include the use of creative games, dramatizations, and interactive activities to promote learning and student engagement.

2. Importance of Playfulness in Learning: Highlight that playfulness contributes to a more enjoyable and meaningful learning environment. Playful activities stimulate creativity, emotional expression, and the development of social skills, as well as facilitating the assimilation of concepts.

3. Examples of Playful Activities in Art: Provide concrete examples of playful activities that can be used in art classes, such as story creation games, dramatization of plays, collaborative collages, and imagination games.

4. Emotional and Social Benefits: Explain how playful activities promote students' socio-emotional development. They help students recognize and understand their own emotions and those of their peers, express feelings in a healthy way, and develop skills such as empathy, cooperation, and conflict resolution.

5. Integration with the RULER Method: Introduce the RULER method and describe how it can be used to enrich playful activities in art. Explain each step of RULER (Recognize, Understand, Name, Express, and Regulate) and how to apply them during activities.

Socioemotional Feedback Activity

Duration: (35 - 45 minutes)

Creation of a Playful Theater Piece

In this activity, students will be divided into groups and tasked with creating a short theater piece based on a playful theme of their choice. The activity will involve writing a script, creating characters, and staging the piece. The goal is to promote creativity, emotional expression, and teamwork.

1. Divide the class into groups of 4 to 5 students.

2. Explain that each group must choose a playful theme (for example, a game, a play, or a funny story) to create a short theater piece.

3. Guide students to discuss ideas within the group and choose a theme that everyone likes.

4. Ask students to write a simple script, defining the characters, their lines, and the scenes of the piece.

5. Allow time for groups to rehearse their pieces, encouraging collaboration and the exchange of ideas.

6. After rehearsals, each group will present their piece to the class.

7. After each presentation, set aside time for discussion and feedback using the RULER method.

Group Discussion

After the presentations, start a group discussion to apply the RULER method. Recognize and praise the emotions expressed by students during the presentations. Ask students how they felt while creating and staging the piece, encouraging them to understand the causes of those emotions. Name the identified emotions, helping students expand their emotional vocabulary.

Express the importance of communicating emotions in a healthy way, emphasizing how this contributes to a positive learning environment. Finally, discuss ways to regulate emotions, such as breathing techniques and the importance of asking for help when needed. This socio-emotional feedback will help students reflect on their experiences and develop important emotional skills.

Conclusion

Duration: (10 - 15 minutes)

Emotional Reflection and Regulation

Suggest that students write a brief paragraph or participate in a group discussion about the challenges they faced during the creation and presentation of the theater pieces. Ask them to reflect on how they managed their emotions at different moments of the activity, such as anxiety before presenting or joy when seeing the positive reactions of their peers. Encourage them to share strategies they used to stay calm and focused, as well as any support they received from classmates.

Objective: The objective of this subsection is to encourage students' self-assessment and emotional regulation, helping them identify effective strategies for coping with challenging situations. By reflecting on their emotions and actions during the lesson, students can develop greater emotional awareness, learn to express their feelings appropriately, and enhance their self-control and emotional management skills.

Closure and A Look Into The Future

Explain to students the importance of setting personal and academic goals related to the content of the lesson. Ask each student to define a personal goal, such as improving their group cooperation skills or learning to manage anxiety better in future activities. Additionally, guide them to set an academic goal, such as deepening their knowledge of theater techniques or exploring other forms of playful art.

Possible Goal Ideas:

1. Improve group cooperation skills.

2. Manage anxiety better in future activities.

3. Deepen knowledge of theater techniques.

4. Explore other forms of playful art. Objective: The objective of this subsection is to strengthen students' autonomy and the practical application of learning. By setting personal and academic goals, students are encouraged to continue their academic and personal development, applying what they learned in class to their daily lives. This promotes the continuity of learning and the building of essential emotional and social skills for holistic growth.
