Objectives

Duration: (10 - 15 minutes)

The purpose of this stage is to clearly present the objectives of the lesson, ensuring that students understand the learning goals and feel prepared to focus on the specific skills to be developed during the lesson. This creates a clear and directed context, essential for the assimilation of content and the development of socioemotional skills related to the topic.

Main Goals

1. Develop the ability to use and apply demonstrative and possessive pronouns in sentences and texts in Spanish.

2. Identify and recognize demonstrative and possessive pronouns in different types of texts.

Introduction

Duration: (15 - 20 minutes)

Emotional Warm-up Activity

Guided Meditation: Focus and Concentration

The selected emotional warm-up activity is Guided Meditation. Guided Meditation is a practice that helps promote the focus, presence, and concentration of students through the guidance of a facilitator who leads them through a relaxation and visualization process. It is an effective technique for reducing stress, improving attention, and preparing the mind for learning.

1. Preparation of the Environment: Ask students to sit comfortably in their chairs, with their backs straight and feet on the ground. Ensure that everyone is in a calm and quiet environment.

2. Initial Breathing: Instruct students to close their eyes and start breathing deeply, inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth. Ask them to repeat this breathing cycle a few times, focusing only on the act of breathing.

3. Verbal Guidance: Begin to guide the meditation with a calm and soft voice. Tell students to imagine a peaceful and safe place, such as a beach or a flowered field. Describe this place in detail, encouraging them to visualize every element.

4. Focus on the Body: Ask students to direct their attention to different parts of the body, starting from the feet and moving up to the head. Instruct them to relax each part of the body as attention is directed.

5. Positive Visualization: Guide students to visualize a bright and warm light surrounding them, bringing a sense of peace and tranquility. Explain that this light helps to dissipate any tension or worry.

6. Gradual Return: Slowly, ask students to begin bringing their attention back to their surroundings. Instruct them to move their fingers and toes and, gradually, open their eyes when they feel ready.

7. Sharing: After the meditation, encourage students to share how they felt during the practice and if they noticed any changes in their emotional state or level of concentration.

Content Contextualization

Demonstrative and possessive pronouns are fundamental for effective communication in Spanish, as they help identify and specify objects and relationships of possession. Imagine being on a trip in a Spanish-speaking country and needing to express who owns each item or point to specific objects. The correct use of these pronouns facilitates clarity and precision in communication, avoiding misunderstandings and promoting more harmonious interactions.

In addition, understanding and correctly using these pronouns also strengthens our socioemotional skills. Being able to identify and name the feelings and properties of the things around us can help us express emotions more clearly and appropriately, contributing to a more empathetic and collaborative classroom environment.

Development

Duration: (60 - 75 minutes)

Theoretical Framework

Duration: (20 - 25 minutes)

1. Possessive Pronouns in Spanish:

2. Possessive pronouns are used to indicate ownership or property. They vary according to the gender and number of what is being owned. In Spanish, possessive pronouns are divided into unstressed and stressed forms.

3. Unstressed Forms:

4. Mi(s): my

5. Tu(s): your

6. Su(s): his/her/its/your (formal)

7. Nuestro/a(s): our

8. Vuestro/a(s): your (plural, informal)

9. Stressed Forms:

10. Mío/a(s): mine

11. Tuyo/a(s): yours

12. Suyo/a(s): his/hers/yours (formal)

13. Nuestro/a(s): ours

14. Vuestro/a(s): yours (plural, informal)

15. Examples of Use:

16. Mi libro está en la mesa. (My book is on the table.)

17. Estas son nuestras casas. (These are our houses.)

18. Este bolígrafo es mío. (This pen is mine.)

19. Demonstrative Pronouns in Spanish:

20. Demonstrative pronouns are used to indicate the location of an object in relation to the speaker and the listener. They also vary according to gender and number.

21. Demonstrative Pronouns:

22. Este/Esta/Estos/Estas: this/these (near the speaker)

23. Ese/Esa/Esos/Esas: that/those (near the listener)

24. Aquel/Aquella/Aquellos/Aquellas: that/those (far from both)

25. Examples of Use:

26. Este libro es interesante. (This book is interesting.)

27. Ese coche es rápido. (That car is fast.)

28. Aquella casa es grande. (That house is big.)

29. Analogies to Facilitate Understanding:

30. To help students understand better, use simple analogies:

31. Imagine you are in a store with a friend. If you point to an object near you, you will use 'este'. If the object is near your friend, you will use 'ese'. If the object is farther away, you will use 'aquel'.

32. For possessive pronouns, explain that they are like labels we put on things to show that they are ours or someone else's (like 'my', 'your', 'our').

Socioemotional Feedback Activity

Duration: (30 - 35 minutes)

Pronoun Recognition and Application Activity

In this activity, students will practice using possessive and demonstrative pronouns by creating sentences and identifying these pronouns in a short text.

1. Group Division: Divide the class into small groups of 3 to 4 students.

2. Sentence Creation: Each group should create five sentences using possessive pronouns and five sentences using demonstrative pronouns.

3. Text Identification: Provide each group with a short text in Spanish. Students should identify and underline all possessive and demonstrative pronouns present in the text.

4. Presentation: Each group will present their sentences and the identifications made in the text to the rest of the class.

5. General Discussion: Promote a general discussion about their experience, what they learned, and how they felt during the activity.

Group Discussion

For the discussion and socioemotional feedback, use the RULER method to guide the conversation. Recognize the emotions that students expressed during the activity by asking them to share how they felt while working in groups and presenting their sentences. Understand the causes of those emotions, asking what made them feel more confident or more challenged during the task. Name the emotions mentioned correctly, helping students identify feelings such as anxiety, pride, frustration, or joy.

Express the emotions appropriately, encouraging students to use phrases like 'I felt... because...' to articulate their experiences. Finally, Regulate emotions by discussing strategies to cope with negative feelings and reinforcing positive attitudes, such as collaboration and mutual support. This process will help students develop greater emotional awareness and improve their communication and empathy skills.

Conclusion

Duration: (15 - 20 minutes)

Emotional Reflection and Regulation

Ask students to reflect on the challenges faced during the lesson. They can do this in writing in their notebooks or in a group discussion. Ask what emotions they experienced while learning and applying possessive and demonstrative pronouns, and how they dealt with those emotions. Encourage them to share strategies they used to overcome difficulties and to identify areas where they can improve in the future.

Objective: The objective of this subsection is to encourage self-assessment and emotional regulation, helping students identify effective strategies for dealing with challenging situations. By reflecting on their emotions and actions, students develop greater emotional awareness and learn to manage their reactions better in learning contexts.

Closure and A Look Into The Future

Explain to students the importance of setting personal and academic goals to continue their learning development. Each student should write one or two goals related to the use and application of possessive and demonstrative pronouns. These goals may include daily practice of sentences in Spanish, reading Spanish texts to identify pronouns, or collaborating with peers to improve understanding.

Possible Goal Ideas:

1. Practice daily creating sentences using possessive and demonstrative pronouns.

2. Read texts in Spanish to identify and underline possessive and demonstrative pronouns.

3. Collaborate with peers in study activities to improve understanding of the use of pronouns.

4. Use applications or online tools to practice and reinforce learning about possessive and demonstrative pronouns. Objective: The objective of this subsection is to strengthen students' autonomy and the practical application of learning, aiming for continuity in academic and personal development. Setting clear and achievable goals helps students maintain focus and motivation, allowing for continuous progress in both content mastery and the development of socioemotional skills.
